Video Of the S40R GT3071R Tubular Manifold .......... | 3:29 PM 10-8-2008 | |
|
I was able to get a video together for the new kit the car is off to the dyno which will be three week to get there. The car BSR tune only allows the car to run 7 psi in first, 8 psi second and 9.5 psi in third, fourth and fith etc so the car but I can tell you that the bigger turbo more efficeint makes a huge difference compared to the stock turbo The car no longers fall on its face at top-end the power is definitly felt through the seat of your pants and wow the sound is tenfolds better than stock. Enjoy the videoit take awhile for them to approve the video too http://videos.streetfire.net/v...0.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf2k8UDH_SI non-musical for most http://videos.streetfire.net/v...3.htm

Sounds nice. I'd love to hear a video taken from the outside of the car, and have the car drive away from the camera.Do you have any tuning plans for the future? (Why does it take 3 weeks to get a dyno run?)

I am sorry I completely forgot about you guys who are into the sounds too I was showing the acceleration of the car.I am still puzzled how Bell was able to go to 15 psi when this car is the same one that they tested with the exact same tune. As soon as I add boost the PCM starts retarding spark and adding fuel and will go into reduced performance mode if you go to 15 psi. Especailly in 1st and 2nd gear because these two gears the pcm pulls boost for the tranny I was told. I will test the boost levels on the dyno and the car has to go 2400 miles by truck where my fabricator will remove the kit with me and make any adjustments if needed. The car will be dynoed before remove the kit to make the 321 SS headers............

Yes I do have plans for the future. thanks to Joey and this turbo kit once the car gets back into my hands I plan on up grading the fuel system and going eithier a complete stand alone engine management system or having rica help me out after I do a few more fine adjustments. I want to to get this car to push the 400 range and than to the extreme of 600 or more. So I will be upgrading the internals and re-build the engine. This will be all in steps though. I want to make the most of what I have on the car right now. So the next big step in fuel manangement and fine tuning to make the most of the turbo.

The transmission is to the right side of the engine as you look at it from the front of the car, right? If that's correct, then the space behind the engine will still be available for a manifold/turbo. If you run a tube and filter down towards the transmission side of the engine for your intake, there could be interference there. Do you have any pics showing the kit installed? Someone with an auto-box could compare to his engine bay, top and bottom, for clearance.Sounds like you have compressed air finding its way back through the turbo in that clip (now that there's no music covering it up). Was the BOV not installed/set up yet? I had that same noise when I lost a vacuum connection from the intake manifold to the TCV.

Yes I have a BOV you can't hear it with the wind but it really is loud outside the car and no I don't have compressor stalling at all. The Samco has a light spring in it at the moment seems to work very well.

I asked about the sound because I had the same sound when a vacuum/boost hose popped off its nipple fitting at the intake manifold... How else do you explain that sound at throttle release? You can hear it in a video I took at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJH3UB-u-ZQ

Youll need a tune anyway, and you can get the tq limiter removed when you get the tune.

yes bsr? 9 psi isnt even in that turbo's efficency range... If you look at the compressor maps and such...youll see that you need alot more than 9 psi to be efficient.
you should probably be at ~15 psi area. make excellent power and torque. if you scared about that, throw on like a meth/water injection kit (aquamist for example) and tune with that. That will keep temperatures low in the combustion chambers. If you have some type of management, like i was talking about adjusting the fuel curves and timing maps, you can tune for 15 psi and be reliable.

The customer will be going way beyond the 400hp when he either gets someone to reflash the PCM or do a standalone. The turbo may be somewhat out of its effeicency range but I noticed the car drives so smooth compared to stock and yes I can order the GT28RS model for those who want to stay stock boost.

like I mentioned before I have several things in store for the car. I am working on some engine management and other things for the car. I have to do fine tuning when I get the car back in my hands and I will probably go complete standalone. We will see though. Aaron

well there are alot of different options out. so I have to do alot of research and I am also thinking of contacting some tuning companies and seeing if we can do a custome tune option.here are some websites of some i might be looking into: http://www.gotechefi.com/ecus/gotechprox.html http://www.motec.com.au/ (this one I have a dealer right in portland that can help me out ) http://www.hydraems.com/ http://www.electromotive-inc.c....html http://www.haltech.com/

Ive had personal experience with both Hydra and Haltech... Preferably, i would choose Hydra.
The user interface and tuning is alot easier than Haltech. Motec is overated, btw.

Well after some research and serious thinking I have decided to have Rica over in the UK help me out with a custom tune for the car. It is just a lot easier for them to do it and the ppc units are unbeatable.
