 Heico-Sportiv Announces Hiatus from Endurance Racing

With the withdrawl of Volvo Cars Germany GmbH and Mühlner Motorsport, a gap has been created that will leave Volvo fans wanting. No Volvo will be taking part at 24h race and the long distance Championship at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 2005.

HEICO SPORTIV will also take a break from this long distance classic race for the first time. HEICO SPORTIV has sited the building up of the brand new S40 and its need for intensive preparation time as their own reason for the hiatus.

In regards to their absence, HEICO SPORTIV director Holger Hedtke said: ”Caused by the very early start date of May 7th, it is impossible for us as an independent and non-factory supported team to develop a reliable and competitive car and to test it in full use. That´s why we are forced, to skip the 24h race in 2005”.  To go on with the previous S40 T4 is not useful, because it already has a successor.  

But racing is part of the philosophy of HEICO SPORTIV. Besides the 10-year history, exclusivity of the products, quality of the developments, motorsport is one of the company's values. Last but not least, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife offers the best conditions to test and present these innovative parts.

To satisfy all Volvo fans, HEICO SPORTIV will hoist the Volvo-flags in 2005 at Nürburgring and other race-courses: after the legendary Volvo 850T5 (1995-1997) and the Volvo S40 (1998-2004) in 2005 a Volvo 240 Turbo Group A will compete in the popular “Youngtimer Trophy”. The ex-works car was maintained and maximized during the winter season and has got now about 320hp, 17” brake system and some more technical highlights.

Furthermore HEICO SPORTIV enters as official sponsor into Volvo-Original-Cup. The “VOC” offers maximum fun at minimized cost. The Rallye-Championship is made up of ten events (see date schedule at http://www.heicosportiv.com). Operating are laddered limousines like 240, 740 or 940. Meanwile the joyful drifting rear-wheel drive cars stay more or less in original condition – only a safety-cage, racing seats and sport suspension-kit are allowed to be modified. HEICO-marketing manager Patrick Brenndörfer – will race his own 740 - comments: “We are pleased to sponsor the only Volvo brand-cup south of Scandinavia and we expect a thrilling saison”.
