 Beware HRE Wheels

They experiance massive failure on the track, 9...yes count them, 9 failures at Viper track day. They are getting banned by PCA, and SCCA is soon to follow. At 1500/wheel this is pretty ridiculous. I just mailed evolve because they have HRE wheels on their website at least they should be aware since HRE wheels are also marketed for volvos....man I must like you guys, I don't even own a Volvo LOL

This is exactly why it is important to purchase wheels that were made for a specific APPLICATION... not just a wheel that is "drilled" for an application.

As I pointed out before... HRE's are VERY lightweight... but if they are not expecting to be on a 4000 lb car at the limits on a track (as ours are)... then this can and WILL happen.

lol... We have finished the multiple revisions while developing them... and will have 4 complete sets and pictures of the final shipping revision on the beutiful Silver R next week...

18" in Graphite
18" in Polished
19" in Graphite
19" in Polished

And at that point, they will be considered "officially" released...

The first 5 sets are already accounted for... but will be built to order for those that are interested

Too bad those are NOT HRE's. Those are Kinesis wheels. Many of us own other brands as well, this has been discussed for years on the M3 sites.

Check facts before posting.

Read the link to the other forum. They go into detail about the failure of HRE + the PCA banning them along with the failure of "other wheels" such as the kinesis wheels.

If I had one wish as a Moderator it would be for there to be less animus on the forum.

Interesting thread. The wheels in the picture didn't look like HRE wheels. So, I sent an e-mail off to the dealer that I purchased my HRE wheels from. Here is the reply:

"Those are not HRE wheels, those are Kinesis K58s. That particular wheel was
refinished before the race, and the problem was traced back to the strip
process with was cycled at 500 deg F for 15 min. That process will no
longer be used to strip powdercoat.

cschmelz you are right that is funny

Wonder how many people aren't going to purchase HRE
because of the incorrect rumor about them.

Bottom line is to inspect them before track use and not powdercoat
them so you can inspect them better. I don't people should freak out
about wheels all of a sudden because of this

We do have heavy car so we have to be really careful
