Probably the wRong forum for such a question, BUT...How about a Volstang 850 GT (sorry, no pics of a 960 at Tirerack's website). Thanks for the fun distraction! Tax prep can wait...
A little trouble with the shorter wheelbase on the Mustang, hence the slightly aggressive stance. Build it and they will come... (to laugh and point fingers). - Tryg

I think the company that made these was called Converse Engineering or something like that. You may want to google that and see what you get.

I would love to build one of these in the future, but I would go with Chevy power over Ford. Just personal preference My neighbor in Tennessee had about 3 Volvos and he put 5 liter Mustang blocks in all of them. He was a bit out there...

Ross Converse @ Converse Engineering is who I had do the work on my 940 (formerly turbo) wagon. The car is very fast and the excellant ride and driveability of the 940 were not affected. It gets the same gas mileage but now runs on unleaded regular, not premium. There are some important, technical considerations why the Ford engine is the better choice for this conversion, e.g., engine mounts match up and both Ford and Volvo use Dana 30 rearend. I am very happy with the results.

Converse would be your best bet for a V8 conversion. I have the V6 conversion but it was done by Hesco out of Birmingham Alabama way back in 1988. My wagon was actually owned by Paul Newman himself. It has a Buick Grand National V6 turbo with a manual tranny and updated BBS RGR 18X8 wheels. I Hope Paul don't mind me changing a few things around on her.

This is what she looked like when I bought her.........

By far the best looking Volvo wagon of all time. This was the car I lusted after in high school. Great job with the updated wheels - they look terrific. What sort of horsepower are you seeing from this setup? A little late to the party, so you probably won't even see this. - Tryg
