Yannis, thanks for this info. We'll probably wind up just buying a V50 instead of a used V70 - better size for my big-car-hating British wife.
Question: Do you know if DSTC will be optional or standard? (Wish Volvo would step up to the plate here like Audi/Acura has....)
Tom

Hell no I hate the DSTC stupid traction control.
Yannis, that is awsome. You wouldn't have come color charts/pictures to go with alot of that would you? Im digging that there is so many trim choices

Tom,
I am almost 99% sure that DSTC is going to be an option. This is just an educated guess considering the new 40's are the least expensive series in Volvo's lineup. It is probably the best way to keep base prices down. I do wish that Volvo would make it standard like Mercedes-Benz has done with ESP.
-Drew

It's nice to see manual transmission availability across the board (assuming these are for US as well). Hopefully, this will be a trend for other models as well!

Yannis, please say this ain't so!
According to a salesperson over on Edmunds, the T5 will only be available with a stick in the AWD version. In other words, no FWD and stick combo. I ignored it for a few days and figured that you and he differed and I would get the real answer soon enough. Well, this morning someone posted this:
http://www.caranddriver.com/ar...=7170
This article says the same thing. Stick only with AWD (of course, it gives a slight disclaimer "at least, initially", but that doesn't make sense to me that a FWD stick would come later). So what's up??
And the answer to this will mean a couple of more questions. With those quoted 0-60 times from Volvo, what are they referring to? If its the AWD 6-speed T5, then great, I have nothing to complain about and will still be excited. But I am having my doubts (unfounded as they may be) that AWD and 220 hp will be that quick on this car. Sure, the WRX does it under 6 with 227, but given my T5 takes that long to get to 60 and has 236 hp.... well, you get where I'm coming from.

thanks yannis.
saw your post on edmunds.
problem over there is (and its been a sore spot for me and some others) is that they delete any post that references another website with a forum. I would stop visiting there, but I feel bad for those who don't know where to go for the good info and like to be able to get it here and other places I visit (like hondapilot.org) and help those less fortunate souls out.

I would very much appreciate being pointed in the right direction for color chips so that I can make the best choice possible. I am leaning toward Barents Blue Metallic #466, but I see some very interesting choices listed elsewhere. And for some reason, the Volvo website only half works lately.
Thanks in advance,
Doc

Hey Yannis, on the official Volvo S40 page, (http://apps.volvocars.us/allnewS40/), under Gallery, does the Silver S40 have the Sport package on it? Noticed it doesn't have the black lower valences like the Passion Red S40 does. And they have different rims.
Would you happen to know if we can order the Sport Package (body kit and 18" rims) with the flush mounted rear spoiler? The one shown in George's review of the S40 he drove.
Thanks!
