Black, darker interior and larger rims really make a difference..
What a blast compared to the silver S40 with light grey interior..

I just drove an S40 2.4i GT and I must say it is a very nice car to drive.
GT still shows the same habits but the car drove really well.
Damper settings are much better compared to the R also.
In a straight line at speeds up to 100 mph the car needed a little to much correction in my opinion but there was stronger side wind.
On a very bad road in the area the car handled real well absorbing the bad surface without to much intrusion. Engine resonated a little at mid RPM range, car had done 1200 km so far.

From what is see, the wood in the silver car is not great. definitely prefer the metallic look in the black one.

Indeed the black and alu is way better, the all grey colors make the car look cheap. What color code (NL) is the black interiour in the photo's? And I'm still curious to what Volvo exactly means with quartz beige, lava grey etc. Ah well.. just 1 day away till I will have a peek at the dealers
Btw. Why do all showroom models have the alloy wheels fitted as in the pics you posted in the album? The Castalia alloys will make the car look much better in my opinion. At least those are the ones I will have fitted...

I have seen 4 S40's so far, driven one.
All of them were on 16" rims except the black 2.4i.
The one I have driven was deep red/purple with light grey dash, alloy console and dark grey inserts in the seats. Seats which were pretty comfertable by the way.
I don't know the interior names, the darker dash is like the newer S60/V70 models and looks much better than the light grey.

The car you have driven, that was a favour from a friend/contact at a dealer or already an offical test drive? The dealer in my city won't allow for test drives until half february...
What did you think of the deep red/purple color? Was that the black currant?
The picture at http://www.swededemon.com/imag....html shows a grey display with black letters instead of black display and blue letters as seen in all the promo stuff. Is this a setting?
Btw... 93.7. Utrecht/Nieuwegein?

Ok, I saw the new s40 at the dealer y'day......... nice
The car looked even better in real life (such as concluded earlier by others). It looked larger, but still very compact in a sporty kinda way
There was a s40 2.4i elite in titanium grey with off black t-tec seating and dash. Very nice interiour with this color set, the exteriour color was not my cup off tea though.
Also a black sapphire mettalic t5 with calcite cream leather seats was at the stand with 17" wheels fitted, dvd nav, the works. But I quicly skipped that one as I could never afford such a car. The dealer said that configuration was about 45K euro
I also informed on the t-tec 5305 color set, and tada.. just one hour ago a 2.4 elite with 5305 and 16" castalia fitted came in. It was still in the workshop, but was allowed to peek. The castalia alloys really make the car much better just as I expected. Even more aggresive, very cool!
The 5305 seating comes only with the grey dash unfortunately, and as stated earlier, the grey dash DOES make the car look a bit cheapier, but is compensated by lava grey/beige seating which makes the car look just a little bit more luxurious, especially if you have a dark exteriour color.
So, without even have test driven the car I am convinced this is my set of wheels (pretty much decided that already in advance, but hey). Just have to decide what interiour/seating color to take and order one
And oh. What the ?#$ with the doorpanel en dashboard storage space? It is even worse than I read about. Back seating space isn't all that great either, but I can't really care. After all, it's not me who will sit at the back

I expected a bone rattling ride but all I got was a firm ride without being bounced all over the place...
Yannis
