my dad brought his volvo in and the service man saw my car and said it was prone to having lots of problems, mainly electrical. said of all the volvos, he sees a lot of c70s!
thanks.. thats very reassuriing... but then again he might just be saying that because we were asking about extended insurance.
There are always bad apples in every batch. I haven't had any problems with my car other than a blown ABS control module. All the other things that got fixed have all been wear and tear problems. That's it. All the people that talk to me about my car can't believe it's a 98 cuz it looks so brand new!

cool.. maybe i dont really need the insurance. couple of questions on yours though. since mine is used, i dunno if this is normal, or is it sumthing wrong with the car. when i step on the brakes, right when the car comes to a complete stop, the car jerks back MORE than normal cars, and has a slight squeak. is this due to the ABS? my mom's s80 doesnt do this. i feel like its my first time driving a car again ehhe i know the dealer changed the brakes, could it be a bad installation? bad brakes?
also, mine has auto tranny, when i shift from park to reverse, or reverse to drive, etc etc.. the gear change jolts the whole car. could sumthing be wrong? perhaps new trans oil?
do you have pics of your car? mine is a 1998 also. only the seats have wear...and the car has dents, small scratches, and minor paint chips a normal person wouldnt notice, and after i cleaned, clayed, polished, and sealed, it looks like new too
just havent had it long enough to get comments yet
Replace your front pads. Chances are that the wrong pads have been put in an they may be a little small, which gives the movement.
As for problems, I had fault after fault, leading close to a legal battle replacement car. We even managed to find design error with the cap on the break fluid reservoir.
As for bad apples, mine was! All's sorted now and no further problems since!!!

hrmm... maybe i should get my volvo checked over and tuned up by volvo or sumthing. 30k miles is coming and i need spark wires, plugs, distributor, new belts, new ait filter, new tranny fluid, and NOW maybe some different brake pads. grrr... anyone got money to give me?
hehehhe
GOod luck with your car...i hope i didnt get a bad apple. design flaws? yeah if you have automatic, not sure about manual, but if you try to see the place to check your trans fluid, its underneath everything and is hard to barely get a finger in there, let alone the stick out. you have to remove some of the tubes to get ther!! geez.
Well I have to say my car is now just hit 40k and with no problems the only problems I had where air noises coming from the sunroof and the motor for the front headlight wipers went replaced with no problem. As oh putting the car from park into reverse I think that is just the characteristics of the car the 7 differnt c70 I drove from mine to a 2001 all have that jerking problem!!

For the braking, the C70 has one of the best brake bites out there from all the cars I have driven (incl MB, BMW, Porsche, etc). If you really step on it, just before the complete stop, the car does dip a little further than other cars, that's because of momentum IMO.
As for the reverse issue, I guess the C70 is a little harder than most cars to take out of park, cuz I do feel it a little bit but not to the extend of it jerking the car. However, on an incline, I can definitely feel it.
I do have pics of my car just haven't bother putting it up on a website. One day...

Just to let everyone know not to worry too much about bad reliability, I just got my car back from the 105K service. It comes to show you how much I love my car. In my case, my car is a jewel.
