Hi Gang,
Well, the national meet in K.C. was a great success. We've worked a year to put it together, and the team did an outstanding job. We had over 120 cars including the 1927 Jakob, the 444 that Colin Powell formerly owned, and a very rare P1900,
The weather was fab, the cars were terrific, and everyone had a fun time. I'm so pleased that my town, Parkville, was the host for it, and that even the 'east coast' crowd thought it was a great meet!
Dan Johnston with Volvo did a fantastic job showing the 'Volvo for Llife' tape and had a most interesting discussion as to the future relationship between Ford and Volvo. Unfortunately part of the C 70 CD didn't work quite right, but it looks pretty good!
Thanks to everyone who came, and I hope you had a great time. I'd love to hear from anyone who came to K.C. and attended the event. No definate plans for a location for next year, but I hope a club chooses to take on the challenge!
Cheers,
Mike (Newie) Newburger
[email protected]

My wife and I had a great time. It's funny you should ask cause after the car show we wandered through a couple of neighborhoods and went by your house. We assumed it was yours as two Volvos where parked there with vanity tags 'Newie' and 'Newie2' Thanks again to all and the hard work that went into it. The bar has been set very high now but that only means the next meet should be that much better.

To the entire Heart of America Chapter:
This was by far one of the best organized and run VCOA National Meets that I've attended. Despite missing the Friday evening BBQ, thanks to US Airways, Saturday was a day packed with informative information, excellent banquet entertainment, a well run awards ceremony, as witnessed by a participant from table 10 in the Volvo Trivia Pursuit contest (you had to be there to see the fun we all had!). The collection of Volvos was fantastic; from Sean Getty's yellow T5R to many well restored cars from all over America, to the collection of fine Volvos brought to the meet by Dan Johnston, from Volvo Cars of North America.
I posted my pictures on the Canada Capital Chapter forum, but here's the link to my pictures: 2005 National Meet - Kansas City / Parkville, MO
Thanks for hosting this great event.
