cruisin' the streets

Had just washed and waxed my car and got the rims so shiny it's gotta be bad for your eyes, and I went for a drive cuz that's what C70 owners tend to do just to get a little bonding session with our best friends. As I passed a silver c70 convo we both grinned and gave a quick nod knowing exactly what the other guy was thinking "You know how we do". later that night I was headed to barnes and noble and pulled up opposite an identical c70, first time I've seen another black on chromes c70. As we both pulled away we rolled down our windows and saluted eachother as we went our separate ways. Long story short, you know you're in the right car when you see one and just give em a nod of mutual appreciation rather than trying to race em or rev on em. Good to see c70 and other volvo owners know they are part of the same team. How many bimmers, audis, hondas, acuras or any of these lesser machines do you see pull up to a similar or nearly similar model car and just nod in mutual appreciation?...NONE. They always have to turn up their bass, rev a little and get ready to take their acclaimed opponent off the line. Their's no comradery(?spelling) like Volvo owners have. It's great to see that.

That's cool!

Man, my car is driven mostly by old people who don't even know what car they bought.

The kids who I know that own one in my area, we already all hang out so I guess that's different. http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif

Yup yup...I get that once awhile from the fellow Volvo owners rather than the C70 people. Most of the C70 owners are either mommys who bought the Conv. just b/c they want to have this 'SAFE' convertible and don't care too much about Volvo...or just those who bought the C70s b/c they wanted an European coupe that is not overpriced like the BMWs and MBs. I've never gotten a 2nd look from fellow C70 owners on the road.

But I did get a nice nod on the highway once when this guy drove by w/ his black 855R. It felt pretty good... http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif

I usually get a nod, thumbs up, or a chat from Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and most of those other type of import tuners. I've only had a family in a 740 give me a thumbs up once (cause their kids in the backseat were going nuts over my ride) and a couple of times from 240 owners who liked the S40. Never had anyone else even glance at my ride in a late model Volvo. Except for that one couple in Wyoming who trailed us for almost two hours, then stopped to chat with us at a fuel station. They were in an 850 wagon and were on their way to the grand opening of a Volvo dealership in Montana, they thought my car was going up for that too. http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif

i dont see too many c70 owners driving around, usually parked or sumthing. i do get quite a few glances from people in other cars....perhaps of envy http://********************/smile/emsmilep.gif

my car is clean and shining 90% of the time in the summer.
winter is a different story.. rain comes and ruins my car wash in no time.

other volvo owners, like of v70s, s60, and s80s just look at my car, never care to wave or whatnot.. perhaps its just LA attitude..*shrugs*

i do know for a fact that corvette owners from CorvetteForum.com are a friendly bunch that wave, cuz i am a forum member there as well http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif
