Should I cancel my order for those HRE wheels?

I think I was just not thinking. And probably just the spur of moment kinda thing. Now I'm kinda having a 2nd thought. My Volk III aren't bad at all, it's just the repairing charge that's annoying me, but after I got the repaired one back today...it looks just like new.

I know it's a PIA to get it repaired and have to fork out all that money to do the repair. But I just don't know if those HRE wheels are worth the $$$. I'm happy with what I have now....I dunno if I'd be happier with new wheels.

The money isn't exactly the issued (even though it'll be if I keep this up), but I just don't know if I should be wasting money away like that since coilover is on the way, and still need to pay the labor to do the external wastegate and dyno tune the car with new turbo.

What do you guys think?

Sorry for the pointless ranting...

Assuming there's no charge or whatsoever for cancelling the order.

I say good thinking Kai. Only problem is.... you got us all excited about the wheels and now you are not getting them, major anti-climax man http://********************/smile/emwink.gif Seriously though, save the $$ and get some Stoptechs for your truckhttp://********************/smile/emsmile.gif

By the way, do you still get on icq?

I personally like your current wheels more than the HRE ones...

So if it were me I would keep your old ones http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif Just get them totaly re-finished in a new color everytime you get sick of them. Go crome, or dark grey, or whatever you feel like at the momnet http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif Still cheaper than buying new wheels every time, and at the same time you can get them all fixed each time.

You really wantt to know? http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif

I think the HRE 446 is a bit to "square" or edgy for the C70.
The bolts make the wheel look smaller also.

I think your car looks phat exactly how it is - seem to remember a review a while ago praising it on its subtleties and not being over the top.

On the other hand, I know where you're coming from with the new rims, time for change???

Just remember (sorry to quote cheesy lines) that the grass is always greener etc etc http://********************/smile/emsmilep.gif

Hey, guys...thanks a lot for the advice. It really meant a lot to me for all the compliments. As much as I'd like to cancel the new rims, they told me..."Oh, they have started the process, we can't cancel the order now" As if I was going to cancel this "custom" order, they would need to get me on some restocking fee, even though it's not even a stock item.

Oh wellz, me and stupidity...I guess I'll be stuck w/ those new wheels soon.

I do agree with you guys, I think my current set does go better w/ the car than the HREs. I guess I was just a bit too impulsive when I got that little accident w/ the wheel the other day.

Thanks again, guys. http://********************/smile/embeer.gif

For what its worth those new wheels are gonna look great! I must say I think your volks look equal though. Perhaps sell the new ones? You could get probably all you paid minus a smigen if they don't even have tires mounted yet.
I've refinished my wheels before, its disapointing to do it but a happy time when their done. Much cheeper than buying new wheels too. Pretty bad rashes & flat spots can be repaired pretty easily, its the side wobble in a rim that means its done and ugly.

Hey, do you have any pics you could throw on here of your c70 on those magnificent ms design rims? Saw your pic of em up close but would like to see how they look with the rest of the machine. Those things are nutz, wish I had the greens to throw at you to get them on my ride, hehe.

Hi Kai, any news on the wheels or coilovers already? http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif
Wheels on right on schedule but might have few days of delay due to change of the wheel face finish. Instead of full high polish on everything and getting a chrome look, I'm getting the center with brush alumn. and clear coated.

The coilover order has been placed, but the KW NA distributor goofed up a bit, so they are coming in 4 weeks later instead.

Still waiting for the update on my turbo upgrade, though. Supposedly Turbonetics sent the wrong flange and gasket (not surprised), but AAM will still work on the external wastegate mounting and other misc fab.

Should have everything resolved in no time.

nah, less spokes look better, five and six spokes I think look best, and with that bling, "Oh No, look at who they let in da back door!"
I don't know, it really depends on what look you are trying to achieve with the car. But those Volk IIIs will always be my favorite, in fact, I think I like my Volk more than the new ones.

tru, with the sleak black paint, my car looks best on 5 or six spokes so the wheels flicker when they get spinnin'. When the sun hit's em right I'll admit to crusin' alongside other dark cars to just look at my rims twinkle in the reflection, haha.
