You have 2 different sized on your car??? On a FWD? Hmm... Not beneficial. The stock tires on the C70 should be 225/45s. However, I'm running 235/45s (on all 4) with no rubbing problems... I'm getting a little bit of the eraser head issue so I'm probably going back to 225s. 235s don't do anything for me other than it looks cool.
Kumhos are good tires for the price. I used to have a set on but they wore out too quickly. Also, they suck a$$ in the snow (I got to big bear in the winter). I went with Sumitomo HTR+.
Goto Tire Rack and check out the Yokohama AVS ES100. Right now there only $105 per tire and the tire has good reviews except for one. You cant beat it for the price.
My C70 came with P6000's while I like them and all I am NOT spending upwards of $800 on tires every 12-18 months. I only have 15k miles on the car and I had the 15k service the other day. The mechanic told me he has seen those tires only last 7500 miles. I really wanted to put the Michelin Pilot Sports on it, but not with those prices. OUCH!!!!!!!!! http://********************/smile/emhammer.gif
It looks like a good tire, and the reviews are mostly positive. I did notice the bad one from an 850R owner, but I had to laugh at this line: "My 850R weighs in at 4340 without passengers. This tire size throughout the range average max load at around 1235/tire making them just about maxed out with passengers."

Thats the one not good review I was referring to. If you read a post with a guy that owns a 540 he likes the performance alot. And that car has got to be heavier than our C70's by quite a bit.

the 235's on the rear MIGHT have sumthing to do with the fact that those rims arent scuffed too bad... at least not as hard as the front with the 225's (previous owner not used to the car) but then again, maybe thats not the case...
what is this eraser head issue... if its sumthing to avoid, maybe i'll keep my tires the way they are, with 225s and 235s (is the price between the two that big?) or..if its really minor, i'll go with 235s all around.
so far the kumhos have about 3000 some miles on it, based on the fact that ive only driven it 3000 miles since i bought it http://********************/smile/emsmilep.gif hehehe i hope the tires at least get me to 20k miles

wow!!! tires only lasting a YEAR?!?! this is my daily driver... i cant afford to just get 7500 miles on a set http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif not for me http://********************/smile/emsmilep.gif heheheh
I'll check out the yokohoma's when my kumho's are dead.
Yeah Yokohama has 2 good hi perf tires at very reasonable prices. The AVS ES100 and the AVS sport. The AVS Sport is the higher end tire. Similiar tread design. Or I will find a longer lasting tire.
Picture a pencil with an eraser at the end. Put the eraser side on a table or something and then move the pencil left and right. You will notice that the eraser will slightly hang back before it moves with the pencil aka there's a slight delay. So, in sharp turns or something like that, the car doesn't respond as instantaneous as with 225. 235s bubble out a little bit. I'd probably go back to 225s after this set is done. Check the the ones I have right now, Sumitomo HTR+. I think the tread rating is 400.

BtW, what do you do during tire rotation are you still keeping the 235s in the back or are you doing a regular change. That's a little weird cuz now you have 235s in the front and then 225s in the back. Performance wise that would make more sense but no point imo.
You should try out the Michellin Pilot Sport, my C70 came stock with those tires and it lasted me the whole year for 40000+ km. Now i'm using BF Goodrich Profiler G tires 235/45 17, i'm expecting it to last more than the michellin but have to wait and see.
My car is also lowered 35mm and I dont experience and rubbing whatso ever with the bigger tires. Although its getting noisier with the Goodrich compared to Pilot sport not to mention the eraser effect mike mentioned. http://********************/smile/emsad.gif

and what you said about the rotation... whoa.. i didnt even think about that. i barely realized that the previous owner put different size tires on my car. hrmmm.. we'll see what happens...maybe the car will feel better with 235s in the front...

The car should understeer (push) less with wider front tires. I'd expect an improvement in handling with the wider tires up front, although you may find that the car follows grooves in the road more and the steering may feel slightly heavier, although neither should be very noticable since it's only one step up in width.
Tread wear ratings are given by the tire company. They aren't a standard, so a 300 wear rating from Michelin probably won't be the same as a 300 wear rating from Bridgestone. Generally it tells the hardness of the tires. 200s and below is usually a soft summer tire, 300-400s is more like a high performance all season, or a harder summer tire, and if you get to the 500s and above, it's really hard and will last a LONG time, like a touring/all season tire. I look for tires at 300 or below for a good compromise in handling and tread life.

I have 235s on all 4 and I do notice the tires following the grooves in the road A LOT more. Steering response takes a little longer, assuming it's heavier. In my car, it's definitely more noticeable, especially on bad conditioned roads. I'm most likely going back to stock 225s, the ride is just too harsh.
