Did any of you ever run the Isky VV-81 cam? How does it compare with the VV-71/IPD 7001 cam in terms of street tractability, torque curve, etc.
I have a ported B20F head which I will be using with a 2130cc big-bore
engine, late model (1975) exhaust with larger pipe from there back,
1975 electronic ignition. Compression ratio will probably be about 10:1.
Any tips?

Tips? You bet - email John Parker (or call late) at v-performance for his 2c on this B20 setup.
If not already consider a post here also...
https://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=52

Phil?
George Dill

George, I've only encountered one engine that I know had the VV81, and it went plenty fast with Weber DCOEs on it. You're definitely getting into lumpy idle territory with it, and with a well-ported head, it might make more power than SUs will support.
Duration and lift are similar to the Volvo R, but with much wider lobe separation -- it won't feel nearly as "cammy" as the R.
Give it a shot -- I think it might suit you.

The cam and lifters showed up yesterday. Not sure how soon I can put it in. I'll keep you posted how it does. I got it on ebay from a guy who claims to have run it for about 3 weeks and then got a JP cam to replace it. (He was expecting to wait much longer.) It is not broken all the way in yet and came with the mating lifters, numbered 1 through 8.

Be sure all push rods and followers are in perfect shape.
What are your plans for the valve seats?
George Dill

I believe the head I plan to use has hard valve seats in it already. I'll make sure. I have only had one B20 head that suffered valve seat recession.

Shoot for 11:1 CR with water injection.
George Dill

Probably the gray 66 122 wagon.
Are you aware of the meet on Oct 20 over at George McDonald's church
in Katy? https://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=84196
Yes indeed. I am working but I will ask if I can take an extended lunch and make up the time by working longer hours each day. If so, I'll see you there?
