Anyone done this? Is it the same as on a V70, e.g. three Torx 25 bolts and a couple of snap in plastic holders along the bottom edge, or are they glued or otherwise fastened up higher on an XC70?
They are glued and have 2-3 t25s under the panel I believe. I’ve done it on an xc70. Just be careful not to bend or flex the plastic too much as it’s easy to do if you miss a t25.
If the lower door moulding is glued along its upper edge, along with internal T35 bolts as Boosted suggests, then yes it may physically swap but won't look right, won't match the rocker moulding.
The lower mounting points on the door are the same for the mouldings (V or XC), top of the XC moulding is held with double sided mounting tape. XC moulding goes right on a V door with no problems. If you remove it carefully you won't even need to replace the mounting tape. Did this on my sister's XC, zero issues
The adhesive tape is narrow. Every XC moulding I've removed, the tape has stayed attached to the moulding, none left on the door. If some stays on the door you'll likely be able to roll it off with your fingers. You may end up with a slightly visible line where the tape was because the paint under it has never been exposed to sun/elements
Thanks, this opens several options locally, appreciate the info
