I was asking here the same question about 2,5 year ago.
Anyway I was told that someone did that but You need another CPU to cheat volvo ECU.
everything is possible depend how much money You have
probably you can put lambo engine too
If You are serious about it, You have to ask swedish guys. They are crazy, and they are the ones who might did that, or know how to do that. If You will decide to make this happend, let me know!
Yes and no. On +'01 volvos there are a whole lot more things specific to autos/manuals than on earlier cars. You need a manual ECU, need an update from volvo, i think they have different speed sensors for the cruise control, obviously pedal assembly, shifter assembly, wiring harnesses... a lot. It's a lot more electrical work for the new cars. It's out of the hands of a DIYer.
But is it worth? Nothing like rowing your own gears
I was talking to a guy at the dealership about this a while back and i remember him saying the total cost would be upwards of $6000. Dont know how true this is but you get an idea.
Theres even more you would have to do, since currently the GSM (gear selector module) reports to the CEM (central electronic module) about gear position to allow for starting. It would simply be a nightmare.
Youd probably be better off trading your car in on a manual trans equipped model.
Thanks guys... I guess I have the answer now... leave the car alone!!
