      That tailgate does look pretty bad. I feel better now about my E39 tailgate that's just misaligned after 2 rear end collisions!
      I have butyl tape packed in the rear window seal to reduce leaks. Works well enough until I replace the hinges!

      It was cosmetic on a car that cosmetics really didnít matter to anymore. Although I still wash and wax it. Polished turd.

      Since itís living on and thereís some serious thought to a new trans and fuel pump as preventative maintenance, tailgate will be getting done soon enough. Might even hand the new front fenders although thatís pushing it.

      Yeah, cosmetic stuff usually doesn't bother me much. It's when it turns into more (like a leak) that it becomes a problem.

      Took a 5 hour round trip to sell the M66, and got some of my best gas mileage in this car. I actually had it up to 22.9 for a little bit on the way there, but somehow it went down a bit on the way home without the weight of the transmission in the back. I can't wait to do the delta link swap and get those MPGs up even more!

      Also need to figure out why there's absolutely no torque in this car getting going. When I try to take off in 1st occasionally, it's a slouch. Feels like I'm starting in second or third. It's scary at times, especially when I need to get out into traffic.

      I was planning on stopping at Durham LKQ on the way home since I was in the area and they had an E83 X3 that I needed parts from, but they had just locked the doors as we walked up. An employee came out a few minutes later and said they'd be closing temporarily because an employee just tested positive for covid. Wonderful... missed on on X3 parts again! I haven't seen one in any yards around here since March, and I really need to get a few things for my dad's X3. Ugh... oh well!

      Wonder if something is up with the VVT. You have a Hilton tune? Wonder if he messed with something in there. I drove Will's Pewter when it had a Hilton tune and it drove super weird. In my 850R, the VVT isn't enabled yet and it feels at least as slow as my dad's NA driving around at low speed.

      Yeah, it's funny, my cousin complains about the same thing about his Hilton tuned manual swapped S70 T5. Taking off in 1st is a bitch, you'd think he has some crazy heavy clutch that's hard to modulate, but it's the same 850R clutch as mine (and as you probably know, it's a pretty light clutch). It's really annoying. First gear also doesn't like to boost, but Rob (Hilton) says it's normal and everything is showing normal on the logs. I don't like it though. It randomly cuts boost in first occasionally. It's really inconsistent. I get that it's supposed to be limited for traction, but come on... I can't even take off from a stop without just about stalling it!
      I figured it was because neither of us had clutch sensors installed, but now that I put mine in, it made absolutely no difference. The car still just has no torque.

      That's a good point about the VVT though, he might have tweaked something that could affect it. My VVT hub grinds a little bit occasionally on startup.

      You never know where that person could have been on the property, so better safe than sorry. I don't know why these people are sick and continue to go to work.       Did a 4 hour wash and interior detail today. Leather, all plastics, jambs, got some of the stuff under the hood and the entire underside of the hood too. Love driving an entirely clean car. Took my mom to get a ďnewĒ car after.



      77 mercury comet - itís from her era so sheís a bit excited. Some very small rusty spots, needs brakes, and interior work. But started on the first crank and suspensions like new.

      Wow, yeah mine's definitely low. I do drive my car pretty hard though, and my turbo is probably on its last legs. I average 17.9-18.3 normally with my combined highway and rural driving. "In town" driving in my area is still mostly 45-55 mph roads with traffic lights spread apart more than some of the towns in my area, where there is a lot of stop and go traffic that would further kill gas mileage.
      My engine seems to be healthy otherwise. Most everything is new, compression is good on all 5, leak down is minimal. The only potential issues are the grinding VVT hub (which, like I said, is only occasionally on startup) and the worn out 19t.

      When I mentioned the delta link rear end helping with gas mileage, I meant that it will cut more weight from this car. Obviously it's not going to help with any potential mechanical issues.

      Yeah, I don't want to throw Hilton under the bus, but I really haven't been happy with this car. Drivability has sucked from day one. I run out the tach to the 6k RPM limiter before I even feel like I'm making any power. It's awful. My cousin is making nearly 300 whp on a 16t, and this car feels like it's making MAYBE 210.

      I wonder what Steve could do for me when I get my K24 built. Once I sell the E90, I plan on sending out my K24 to G-pop shop to get it machined, and that will of course require a a re-tune. I'd rather avoid Hilton if it'll keep driving like this.

      As it is right now, I have to ride out the clutch for a while in first gear. And it STILL bogs down. If I floor it, it bogs down, then once it finally decides to start moving it'll roast the tires then it's already at the limiter by the time I'm ready to shift to second. Now with the clutch sensor installed, it keeps revving another couple hundred RPM, so it makes the shift less smooth. Like I said before, it seems I just shift too fast for the car.

      I gotta figure out what the hell is going on with this thing.

      Have heard some less than excellent stories from g-pop.....

      That was one of the big reasons I stuck with a TD04 turbo on my 850R, because I can get a brand new CHRA for any TD04 I want for £118. I know my K24 is on borrowed time in my S60 and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it yet.

      Between Nick Knight/DCTB and G-pop, Iíd prefer the latter. Nick seems to know what heís doing, but heís a little full of himself and heís expensive. Plus Iíve seen some of his turbos in less than stellar condition. Will had some pics of a crusty 20t from that saff parts car.

      My K24 has a crack in the exhaust housing like they all do, but Iím not too worried about it. I think the hybrid K24 should outperform my 19t by quite a bit.

      Hahahahahahaha.....yeaaaahhhh....well, let's just say I'd prefer to stay faaaaaaaaar away from both. I love that I have a 19T with a brand new VSR balanced CHRA.

      I think you should make it run right with the 19T and a proper AWD delete/LSD and then decide if it needs to be faster

      Yea Iíd roll with the 19t for now. I can even get a billet wheel put on and then have it re vsr balanced out of the UK. The place weíre dealing with is excellent.

      Maybe I’ll run that for now along with a better tune and focus on doing the rear suspension, then do the K24 later on.

      20 minute turbo vs doing all the necessary conversion to K24 plumbing and supporting mods.

      I feel like we've already been over a lot of these things but check:

      Waste gate actuator set to 4.5 psi and operates smoothly.

      TCV is plumbed correctly and is Pierburg.

      Maf sensor is correct to the car (not just the housing.

      Base timing is correct by the cams, not the gears. VVT swing is 15 degrees.

      No boost leaks.

      Both O2 are fresh/ish.

      Having had two hilton tuned P80s i was never really impressed. A lot of time was spent making the black s70 not that fast and the pewter as originally adopted was a dog.....because the timing was off and the waste gate was slack at atmosphere. Yes these were things that i should have checked but i didnt know any better, 4 years ago. However they are apparent in the logs and were ignored or didnt even register.

      ECU version hardware changes a few times. You should have the faster, more memory 00 ecu already, but that can be checked. A factory T5M tune for an 00 would be the best starting place and i doubt hilton has one since theyre pretty rare cars. Worth asking what the base maps was.

      Any codes or is it a ghost town in vida?

      Only code is an evap leak, and that isn't always present. There are no boost leaks, WG is set properly, TCV is plumbed correctly and it's a new OEM Pierburg from FCP. I haven't changed the O2 sensors, and I'm unsure about the MAF, but as far as I know it's correct. It came from a 2002 C70 HPT. My last MAF just died the other day.
      Timing is fine, I was sure to lock the cams and set the VVT properly back when I did the timing belt.

      I mean hell, the tune could still be bad because I've fixed various things since it was last modified, but who knows. My laptop won't hold a charge long enough for me to get decent logs, and I don't want to waste time with it if I'm going to change other things soon anyway.

      Power inverter would be a super cheap/easy fix for that
