      Managed to source a lower dash at 100% and some molding rails for the roof too. Also got 4 mudflaps from the car - broken 98 s70 with a bad timing belt. Looked pretty pristine!

      Hahahahaha is the awfulness of SCs road the new running joke on SS? I couldn't believe it driving around down there. I thought the roads were going to be nice in the south.......but no the best stretch of road I drove on was the Bruckner Expressway/New England Thruway from the Throgs Neck Expressway to the Westchester Expressway. Although really almost everywhere in coastal southeastern New England has excellent surface conditions on its limited access highways but I am partial to a nice piece of concrete road.

      Well that's good to know for when I do my national parks road trip one of my friends and I have started bouncing around ideas for, because I-15 did pop up as an option on one of the maps i was looking at. Although I think we'd be trying to avoid interstates as much as possible, anyway, especially in the mountains.

      SC roads are a joke everywhere lol. The news channels talk about it every few months when they consider raising gas tax in SC to cover it. But we all know even if they raise the taxes, they're never gonna do anything about the roads. While the main roads have improved somewhat (here and there), the back roads are HORRIBLE. I was on a road a while back in Indian Land that was practically gravel, that asphalt was in such awful condition. And thank goodness they finally paved the road right near the junkyard I go to down in Rock Hill... I would take this left turn at this fairly major intersection, and there was a massive crater in the road that was nearly impossible to miss. Bottomed out multiple times even taking it slow.
      I'm not a fan of concrete highways. The stretches of I85 here that are concrete are awful... SO damn noisy. It's smooth, just very loud.

      Replaced the cracked and brittle PCV pipes then drove 250miles. Pulled back into my driveway with this as my average mpg.

      In NY/NJ/CT/QC all the concrete I've been on has longitudinal grooves. When it's good, it's the quietest and smoothest surface I've ever experienced. I remember all that concrete with transverse grooves on 95 before they overlaid all of it from back when I was a kid and we still bothered to visit the relatives in FL. News flash: Asphalt overlay over concrete is good for about 5 years.

      I was on a section of 85 (or maybe 40... donít even remember) last week while driving up towards VA, and it had the transverse grooves. Man, that was annoying as hell!
      The part of 85 near me that I take to one of the junkyards doesnít have those, but it just sounds like insane tire noise. Once it changes to asphalt, my ears are so relieved!

      Got my va5t euro R tune for the s70 today. Canít wait till I get out of work to test this sucker out.


      edit: drove around for about 60 miles, my small evap leak and secondary air injection CEL haven't come back, shifts are much smoother, gas mileage was better but I was told it's running lean while learning. Good choice for a rather cheap tune.

      Looks like it's ETM time.

      Installed a Snabb short throw shifter plate in my R the other day, but I had the bolt on the cable too tight initially, which caused the shifter to be incredibly too tight and hard to get into 1st and 3rd. I readjusted it today, and now it feels great! I still don't like the shifter feel of these cars, but the Snabb delrin shifter assembly bushings, stainless cable bushings, and short throw plate make a big difference over stock. Might swap it over to the shorter position eventually.



      I also just wrapped up replacing the head gasket on my 940 today, and unfortunately that didn't solve any problems. The car idles like crap, it feels like an out of balance washing machine. I really need to figure this thing out. I'll have to further investigate tomorrow... the boost gauge it showing 12 in-hg at idle and it's rattling all around.

      Finally finished the bulk of my interior trim change over from tan to black all painted by me, what a journey now I'll have to break out some thread and buy some suade for the interior seats and armrest for reupholstery

      Giantrobot9000 it's a pretty ambitious projects most people don't like doing that kind of work, on the coupe I was very careful with plastic trim exc.. Because it's getting so hard in my area to find parts c70's. There's one sitting in the junk yard for sale just waiting for it to come to the self service section lol

      Yeah, I would love a first gen C70 coupe, but they rarely pop up anymore here. Usually convertibles or completely trashed.

      Lol I guess I'll figure it out later so this is what I plan to do with my exterior it took me months to come across someone that actually changed out the front end of a newer I believe s60 and put it on a c70 I've wanted to get Thors hammer lights for my c70 this would be the way I'd do that.

      What did you do to your car today?


      Replaced my rear engine mount after Hilton suggested thatís why my car is pulling timing in low gears. The old one was certainly bad (I put in a used one when I did the M56 swap since I was in a pinch) but it still occasionally pulls boost in 2nd.
      Overall though, the car is more solid and less jerky. I also tightened up my iPd lower torque rod, since one of the bushing bolts was allowing a little more movement than Iíd like.

      First time Iíve changed this rear damper with the engine in the car, and it wasnít nearly as bad as people make it sound. It was actually super easy!
      I think the problem is that people donít have swivel sockets. Youíre not doing yourself any favors by not having a set of those... they have become a necessity.

      I think the problem is that people donít have swivel sockets. Youíre not doing yourself any favors by not having a set of those... they have become a necessity.

      I was losing too much torque in my swivel socket to get mine out in the T-5R. However that problem was easily resolved by unbolting one end of the sway bar and moving it out of the way so I could have access with a normal socket. Either way, not a big deal.

      The bottom bolt was pretty easy to get at this time, but I remember the last time I attached it on another car I needed more torque than the swivel could give me. As for the top nut, I was able to navigate around the turbo coolant pipe and crack it loose and tighten it no problem.
