      Of course I still have the VC still in. This car is staying AWD. Yep, it sits behind the rear sub-frame but still underneath the factory heat shielding in that area.
      I got another clip this morning, this time phone sitting on the ground just behind the car; slightly underneath the front of the Saffron C70 that was behind it.

      Look how easy the alternator, valve covers, timing chain cover, fuel injector clips (F THOSE POS's)are with the motor down. Also, delrin. Because big school bus's need crisp steering.

      Makes everything easy! The coil connectors are also awful, there's NO room to move that harness on the rear bank. These engines runs so hot, everything gets brittle as hell.

      C70 seat belt! You could pic up the car with them that grade of webbing is insanely strong.

      Something something Boston Whaler. Although not sure if they made any inboard designs. Would be cool regardless of what it ended up in.

      I dropped my B5234T5/AW50-42LE out on July 3, 2019. I still have hope I can have it running in under a year! But when will it end? Who knows; I see a lot of details I could be working at for a while....

      Hell yeah it looks good. Whats up with your E90 ?? I have always had a soft spot for BMW's. Had a 2 year old 98' 528i sport, loved the Style 5 wheels. Then a 94' 530i, then a 85' 325E sport manual. Last on my list is to aquire an 88/89' 325xi manual coupe

      Thanks! It's a 2006 330i that I picked up as a flip back in April, I've been trying to figure out an issue where the DME doesn't want to respond to programming. When I bought it, the PO had installed the wrong DME out of a newer E90 and it ran, but ran like crap. When I installed the correct one is when the problem appeared.
      After a lot of troubleshooting, I finally discovered that the connector for the electronic steering wheel lock was cut off! The lock is a common failure, and you can install an emulator chip to bypass it, so I have one coming today. Once I pop that in, it should start right up!

      I also have an E39 touring. It's been in the family for 9 years now, and I'm happy to finally call it mine (now that my dad bought an E83 X3 to replace it as his daily). It's a sport package, so it originally had Style 5s, but my dad scrapped them years ago since they were bent and he had no idea what they were worth. I could have killed him! Now it rides on Style 42s that I found at LKQ a couple years ago.
      I would really love an E30 as a fun back road/track car. I love my R, but it's disappointing to toss around on the twisties compared to my old Miata (no surprise!).
      I'm also very much a BMW guy lol.

      What did you do to your car today?

      Time to rebuild the used rack/pinion. Have the Gates rebuild kit. Any word of advice? Iím leaving this for my son to do. Crossing my fingers. Rebuilding this passenger axle I no longer need (off a 99 v70xc). Will post for sale soon.

      Got to the mechanic today and bothered him long enough to let him pull the s70 in. Evap leak, oil leak, and coolant leak....Lowering springs, light bar, shock/strut mounts, new steering wheel... and the parking brake light.
      I think thatís it!

      Got a pcv system for the oil leak and samco radiator hoses for the coolant but not actually sure whatís going on. Hoping it doesnít immediately need timing but Iíll be gambling driving it without a new belt pretty soon.

      Just do the timing belt and water pump. All newly acquired P80s should immediately get timing belt, water pump, 302s, and tires.

      Love the E39 Touring. More rare than my E46 Wagon. A guy passed me flying up Parleys Canyon last week in a black 540i Touring with Style 5's. Had i seen it parked i would have left a "are you ready to sell" note on the windshield. It was mint.

      I'd love a 2003 540iT M Sport... but those are truly unicorns. I would love to find a cheap one to manual swap.

      They are certainly rare though, this car was rear-ended back in January, and the insurance adjuster couldn't even find any to compare it to for a value. He came in low, but my dad didn't care too much since the "pain and suffering" settlement covered the rest of what he wanted to find a replacement. Fortunately the damage to the car was extremely minor... just scuffed up the tailgate a little bit and broke a motor mount. 30 minute fix and it drives perfectly again! Mind you, this is the second time in our ownership it was rear ended... I was hit in it a couple years ago while pulling to the side for an ambulance. The guy behind me slammed on the brakes a little too late and bumped into me. I also have records of the headlight being replaced by a shop from the last (original) owners at the cost of $1,100 (People are nuts to pay BMW dealer prices for parts like a xenon headlight assembly!), so I assume it was hit in front many years ago too.
      I drove it to the junkyard today, and nothing is better to drive on the highway. My R sails down the highway nicely, but the E39 just feels so much more planted at 90 mph. I had to slow down several times when I realized I was going that fast, the car is just too smooth!

      Fortunately that emulator did the trick and I was able to drive the E90 today too!
