new toys for the T5. my painfully slow engine build is coming to a ten week close finally. I will have ti done and broke in by the fourth. Here are the last pieces to go in.

For those not sure what you are looking at: new crome guage rings, dolby pro dash pad, new grille with updated Ironman logo, IPD RIP kit and intercooler. Too much fun and too much money.

I replaced my wipers with Rain-X wipers, changed the oil, (M1 Full Synthetic) and rotated the tires. I also washed and waxed the car for the trip. I am on my way to TN in 45 minutes 2600 KM drive and I SHOULD roll over 200k in the next couple days.

MIJ, I will drop you and email when I land in Knoxville on the 3rd or 4th.

Yesterday while in Salem Virginia on the 81 the Volvo died. Long story short, Mike at Crossroads Volvo saved my skin. New alternator, battery and two lowbeams later we drove the rest of the way to TN. I gotta replace my coolant level sensor next week as well.

Today, the car turned over 200K KMs as I passed the car wash. So I washed I.

I ignored the many new rattles and the fact that I no longer have A/C in my car.

Time will tell what other thing will fail.

Stay tuned for the follow up.

Called AAA and they towed the car to a local indie shop to work on the electrical problem, which most likely is the alternator/ voltage regulator.

      Not necessarily.
Have the battery cables been changed yet?
The B cable corrodes and rusts out and when it does this, it will not allow a charge.
Seems like an alternator isn't working but actually no matter how good an alternator you have the battery will not get a full charge
      Also check the A cable.
EVERY SINGLE ONE of these Gen 1 cars I buy now have bad cables, just because of time.

      OEM shocks/springs with Perfos

      Koni FSD/Eibachs with Perfos

Now: Koni FSD/Eibachs with 17" Pegasus and 215/45 General Exclaim UHP

Now to get spacers to bring the rears out a bit. What width do you guys recommend. I'm thinking 10mm. (This pic really emphasizes the rear bumper droop. )

Well, we'll see. They ran a charging system check on it and determined it was the alternator. I previously checked the cables after researching yours and others posts on the topic and with my tester they checked out.

well i opened my door and i hear "POP CLUNKY CLINKY" so i ripped off the door panel. this is what i saw...

idk waht its called but lets say i wasnt enjoying replacing it. it took 1.5 hours to get the new pin safely out of a junker car at the yard and another 1.5 hours to get it back in without having it turn out in the same snapped manner. woo that thing sucks. but for fun whats it called? door stop pin/hook/mabobber

Mine's cables are in perfect shape, but I did just lose my Alternator, Battery and both headlights on Interstate 81 in Salem virginia. Fortunately Crossroads Volvo got me back on the road in no time.

Finally found a good (ok, maybe great) deal on some jewels (even came with corners, PIAA bulbs and Expel film), so I pulled the trigger. The seller was selling his car to CarMax so it worked out nicely for all involved. I gladly gave him my old frosted glass headlights and some cash. I love 'em. I can see at night again, and very happy with the daytime appearance.

Geez, Jim, you could have at least said something nice about the new headlights first!!! Actually, I've never ventured to try to take it off and find out what got bent/broken when the prior owner backed into something. Pretty simple to remove?

Not too hard, two bolts and two rivits per side.
Once off, you probably need to straighten the small brackets and re-attach it.

Drove the T5 for a 4hr road trip - nothing broke, no odd smells, A/C remained cold - it was a good day!

      Yes that's English

Bought the car last Friday with a bad head gasket. Have started the job to fix it.

Returned from 545 mile round trip to our ranch loaded with tools and materials for reroofing project. Now signing up for November track day at Thunderhill organized by Golden Gate Ch. of VCOA (the best $200 worth of fun I know!). My idea of a "sport utility vehicle"!
