Sorry but wasn't sure how to link to another post, so I'm starting a new one. The link and post are under the name "A Cobra". These steps look interesting and could be a good alternative to the factory ones. Also like the front guard they offer. I understand they also make them for other SUVs and was wondering if anybody had any experience with them. Thanks. If anybody cares to share how to include a link to the other post, I'm all for learning.
After seeing how hard it is for my 3yrs old son to get into the 3rd row, I have definitely decided to put some side bars on. I have e-mailed COBRA asking for a closer picture. If and when I get it I will share it with you.
Re: Cobra Side Steps- Anybody have feedback? (JoVolvo)
I just ordered the side steps and the front guard from their distributor in North America. Check out their webiste. It has some closer pictures of the side steps.
The side steps look good and seems as though they peek out a bit more than the Volvo version. Also the installation seems easy enough. But the city guard doesn't appear to be too functional. After looking at the instructions, it doesn't hook up to any part of the frame. And you also have to drill some holes in the front bumper.
Re: Cobra Side Steps- Anybody have feedback? (zombi)
Yes, it definitely looks like there are two black steps on each bar and they look wide enough for an adult but I'm not sure about that.
I sent an email to the customer service rep about why it takes so long. Here's her reply:
Hi Jeff ~~ I always tell my customers who order Cobra, regardless of what the website says, (I don't make the decision for putting that on there) that from experience it normally takes 6-8 weeks from original date of order.
Cobra is imported from Germany and it does take time. Once it arrives in the states, the entire cargo barge that it is on is inspected. If 50 companies have items on that barge and ours is on there also, if customs has a problem with one, they will hold the entire barge until the matter is settled.
That is not the normal, but it has happened. So just from past experience, I say realistically, 6-8 weeks.
Please keep in mind though that Cobra IS top of the line. You will not find a more superior product than that. All my customers have been glad they waited.
I hope this helps answer your questions.
Sincerely,
Kim H
I guess since I waited so long for my XC90, I'm getting used to the waiting...
Re: Cobra Side Steps- Anybody have feedback? (Atdbuzr)
The reply to my e-mail to Cobra for a closer picture came from the local agent:
Dear Thano,
We are the representatives of Cobra in Greece.
For that specific car, we haven´t brought anything in yet but if interested give us a call from 8:30 to 15:30
I was almost ready to place an order.
Instead I replied with an inquiry for their best prices, giving them the part number which I found at Cobra's web site.
Let's see if they find it !
Re: Cobra Side Steps- Anybody have feedback? (Atdbuzr)
Looks interesting I'd really like to see some real world installations and user feedback. The oem's available from volvo are unsatisfactory! Looking for something better
Any new updates or other new products? Maybe somebody will come up with a motorized ding protector that motors out when locked to block careless drivers and passengers flying doors. Seriously, though, that is one of the main reasons I want them. I'd wait, but of course that'll defeat the purpose.
Re: Cobra Side Steps- Anybody have feedback? (zombi)
If the price is no more than the Volvo ones, I'd go for it. Do they, in fact, just bolt on with no modification? That is the only way I would consider them. They appear to be a quality product, but haven't seen first-hand. Keep us posted.

The motorized thing is good. Also, if it could reach out and slap the guy and take a picture when he digs your car, that would b great!

Just got my Cobra side steps and front grill. I'll take some pictures of them before the install and post them up tonight. I probably won't have time to install them until the weekend.
