Atacama seat repair??, Stitching comming loose, place to repair in Bucks County pa?

I have an issue with my '04 V70R with Atacama interior. The stitching on the drivers side upper side bolster has let loose. This is my wife's daily driver and didn't notice the that the stitching was coming loose. Now it looks like it is getting worse and the stitching is starting to come loose on the bolster area as well.

Anyone know of a good shop that would be able to repair this in the Bucks County Pa area? I have checked with the dealer, Keystone in Doylestown and they haven't been any help.

      Thanks
      Todd Davis

My car has the same thing going on. I figured I could either take it some place where they'd have to remove the entire seat cover to put it on an industrial sewing machine to stitch it up right (no idea how many hundreds of dollars that would have cost...) or just stitch it up from the outside with stuff from my grandmother's closet so it doesn't fall apart anymore than it already had. I chose the latter...

My wifes little Suzuki SX4 has custom leather seats, a place called E&G Classics made them up for like $1200. I doubt fixing some stitching would be very much. http://egclassicsinc.com/

Hmm... Oh well. One of these days I'd love to add heated seats to my car. Maybe I'll just re-stitch from the inside when I have to pull the covers to lay the heating elements.

The heated seats was included in the package. I don't know if they have more locations, we have one about 4 miles from my house. They get warm much quicker than the R's, not to mention warmer. I never bothered to pay to change my settings.

Yeah, well, I'd want mine to act like stock... I might go with aftermarket heating pads, but want to use the Volvo control modules and have the buttons be in the right place on the climate control

Do you have seat warmer buttons with no function? Or would you need to change out the panel?

My 04SR had the same problem a couple years ago. I still had the warranty and took it to the Volvo dealership and they had a leather specialist come in and replace the upper seat leather under warranty. I was happy about that! Score one for the Volvo dealership
I'm assuming you don't have an extended warranty.

Not sure if you have to pay to have the setting adjusted warmer - at least I didn't when I asked to have it done when it was in for service, along with having the rearview mirror setting adjusted at the same time.

It's not a software download so you might want to ask next time you take it in for something/anything. Couldn't hurt. Even if they say no, you haven't lost anything - you're just back to where you are now.

Could be a dealer issue also - some that will and some that won't do it at no cost...

There are buttons underneath the blanking plate. Would just need to get the little plastic button covers and a software download (as well as the control modules [one per seat] and heating pads/elements [two per seat]).

      Try Moorestown Auto Upholstery.

I used to use them a lot when I worked at a local dealer. Not too far from Buck's county and they do very good work.

      Can you approximate any costs?

Not sure, but if it's just stitching without any rip repair, I wouldn't expect more than $50 tops. The seat covers come off pretty easily and they'd have to resew the seam. not a big deal really. Give them a call. I'm sure they'd give you a much better ballpark than I would.

They've been around. I dealt with them as much as 19 years ago and I am not sure how long they existed before that so they are long established and respected.

I stand corrected. I had bad info from (or I may have misunderstood) the dealer service mechanic who did the adjustment. Still didn't cost me anything...

It IS a big deal, this is a special colored off white thread. no one has it (that matches!)
My 04 also came apart, (under warranty). Volvo replaced the upper seat cover at 10K miles

I do have an extended warranty through the dealer. I bought it when the car only had 21k on it. I am now at 75k.
