      Subwoofer Installed.

Well, got everything ironed out and Im very happy with this setup and the relative "factory" look.

It doesn't take up much trunk space at all, sounds great and isn't overpowering at all.

      JL W1V2 enclosed = $169 off eBay
      Alpine MRP-M500 = $120 off Amazon
      8G Stinger Wires = $26 off Amazon
      Total=~$300 bucks plus incidentals (brackets/heatshrink/blood/sweat)

      JL W1V2 300W RMS 4Ohm

See, still have MOST of the trunk space

      Alpine MRP-M500 300Wx1 4Ohm RMS

Yea, i know, its upside down....best spot for it. And I only payed $120 for it so I dont care.

Are those hinges holding it in place?

      Re: Subwoofer Installed. (The Weasel)

yup. powdercoated hinges lol. work perfectly and allow for slightly odd angle of mounting.

looks nice, but nothing exciting. I had a Kenwood ddx 6019 and a JLW712 with a JL 1000 Watt Amp, and i put MB Quartz speaker's in place of all of the factory ones. It could thump let me tell you that, but then again you didn't have to pay as much. I hope you enjoy them!

Mike, not sure if that amp is fan cooled or not but most heat sink amps will overheat and shut off if they are mounted upside down

      It looks nice.

How much do you use the fold down seats though?

I fully agree with Ride R about the mount location of the Amp. Under load you might run into an auto shut off issue due to heat. Another great location might be behind the left or right liner near the rear quarter panels. That area will stay pretty cool.

IDK? hasnt shut off yet? I guess we will see...

      It is a heat sink....

      Dimensions
      Foot Print (WxHxD) mm 270mm x 60mm x 242mm
      Foot Print (WxHxD) in 10-5/8'' x 2-23/64'' x 9-33/64''
      Heat Sink (WxHxD) mm 210mm x 60mm x 242mm
      Heat Sink (WxHxD) in 8-17/64'' x 2-23/64'' x 9-33/64''

Yea, nothing exciting. but for those who want a simple setup that still yields good results, this is for them.

The only time I folded down the seats was to put a full EST catback in the car that I bought off Giraff lol.

I tried the quarterpanel areas but the amp was too big for a secure mount. Unless I were to make a panel with fiberboard/plywood...

I guess if she ever shuts off I should worry about it then.

Ive heard both sides of the "upside down amp story" that says NO DONT DO IT IT WILL OVER HEAT and also IF ITS A QUALITY AMP IT WILL WORK.

      So who knows.

Im running at a 4Ohm resistance so it wont be producing much heat either, much less than its 2ohm capability.

Anyone wanna place any bets as to whether or not it will last?

^I think the alpines have built in high level inputs. Most good amps have it as a feature, so no adapter required, just tap into the rear speakers.

You can just tap into the AWD fuse in the rear.

just tap off the taillights ... for amp turn on

or remove the rear fog bulb and you can have a remote turn on from the front of the car
