      I always carry

      Canon 5D MkII + grip
      Canon 30D + grip
      530EX II Speedlite
      EF-S 10-22 USM
      EF 24-105 L
      EF 70-200 L
      Sigma 50-500 HSM
      Velbon El Carmange 530 tripod
      Hoya Polarizer
      Gerber Multitool

Just the basics. I only carry the 50-500 when I'm shooting aviation (most of what I do). For air to air I hook up the 5D and the 70-200. For airshow flyby shots, I use the 30D and the 50-500. For static work, I carry the 5D and the 24-105

I need to build mine up. I have a rebel xti with the kit lens (18-55 I guess). A few extra memory cards and some lens paper. I'm hoping to grab some better glass when I graduate. For now I just don't have time to use it much, so it wouldn't be worth it.

I think most would agree that money should be spent on glass first then the body.

+1. Good glass lasts a lot longer than bodies.

Truly there's nothing better than a beautiful piece of glass, it makes any body shine

Absolutely - can't disagree with that. Couple a higher end Nikon lens, Canon L , or Zeiss optic with a high quality CPL under the right circumstances and truly beautiful images can be created. And if properly cared for that lens will give many years of top service. - Stu

I'm really very happy with my Canon PowerShot SX120 IS. Fits in a pocket and has a great lens that can do both extreme close-up "macro" shots and far-away shots with the 10X optical (not digital) zoom. Also like that it uses standard NiMH AA's and SDHC cards.

Have cake, am eating it all myself too.

I love my 1Ds and 5D (both mkI) combo. When it gets dark the 1Ds sucks ass due to its horrible ISO performance, but that's when the 5D shines.

I'm getting the itch for a 1Ds mkIII, just gotta wait for the mkIV to be released so the price will drop

My work has the Hasselblad H3. But I dont get to use it
Pirate, I would have thought the 1Ds + 5D being full frame would give the same low light performance. Maybe its because the 1DS has an older Digic processor?
I seriously WANT to upgrade the 40D to the 5d mk2 or 1DS

The 1D mkIV and the 5dmkII have great high ISO performance, the older models not so much. A buddy of mine shot this with his 1D MkIV, all natural light coming in from outside. ISO 10,000, F/2.8, 1/100th

The original 1Ds has horrible ISO performance because of its old CMOS design. New sensors are just designed oh soo much better.

However the files that come out the 1 are just butter, there is just something magical about them. Maybe its the weak AA filter mixed with fairy dust, don't know but I just love the pics.

Also, after you shoot with a 1 you will NEVER like the feel of a lesser body. I can't stand going to the 5D after using the 1. The 5D feels like a toy. Plus the weight of the 1 doesn't bother me one bit.

^^ I know what you mean about going back to the older camera.
I still have the excellent Canon Powershot Pro 1 in my bag and I havet used it in over 2 years. It feels too small and weak - yet its a FANTASTIC camera.
Shame the 1D mk4 is so expensive

It's a pro body and it's priced accordingly. IMO if you're not shooting for a living, you don't need a 1D Mk4 or a D3/S/X. The D700 and the 5dMkII hold all the tools needed for a pro-sumer photographer and said bodies w/ the accessory battery grips make a huge difference. Don't get me wrong, I want a D3 in a bad way, and I shoot on a professional level, but I'm not a full time photographer and just can't justify it. The D700 will do everything I need out of a body.

Its true, there is no need to have a 1D unless you are a pro, but damn they sure are nice.

Do it, its a great little lens. I love mine.

This thread started out as what's in your camera bag and not what you have in your arsenal. So my first post was missing some of my gear.

The two lenses I left out were my
EF 135 F2 L prime lens (this thing is soooo sharp its unbelievable, its truly an incredible lens)
      and my EF 100-400 L

I've been waiting for the 70-200 F2.8 to be updated and now that it has its on my short list to get as is the 16-35L double

      Hello DSLR!

Finally got around to selling off my old Nikon lenses and picked a DSLR.
The point an shoot is going into semi retirement.

      Canon 60D
      Canon 580 EX II Speedlight
Canon 18-55mm EF-S f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Starter Lens)
Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 DG OS (Optical Stabilized)
      B&W 62mm UV-Haze Filter
      Manfrotto Tripod
      LowePro Flipside

I got a good deal on the Sigma and I have the option of upgrading it to an "L" within one year and I won't loose much in the deal.

BTW - I'm extremely happy with the flash.

Trying out the Sigma lens yesterday. I'll post a pic or two in the 'I Got Bored" Thread.

      Cheers!

My camera bag has a Panasonic HDD camcorder and a Nikon D5. Love both of them because they work great.
