What's the correct way, or does it matter?

I'm thinking about my next steps in an attempt to get this engine installed this weekend.

My question is related to mating the Auto tranny to the block. Does it make any difference if you mate the torque converter to the flexplate first bolting it in, or engage the torque converter to the transmission then mess with bolting it through the starter motor location?

I've heard rumor that the pumps are touchy on how the torque converter mounts, I'd hate to screw up at this point.

      Thanks....

I bolted the tranny to the block first. You don't have to bolt the converter up through the starter whole. There is an access whole on the tranny near where the passenger side axle goes in (I think there is a little rubber plug in it). WAY easier than through the starter.

I believe that because there's a snug fitting locating pin in the center of the torque converter, and locating pins on the bell housing, that it makes no difference which you bolt up first, it'll center itself either way.

If you want to be sure, install with the TC on the tranny.

Put TC inside tranny and make sure its sitting the whole way in .

Then mount tranny to Engine .

Then spin the enegine and or TC to mount that to the Flex plate.

Doing this any other way will = busted TC and or Tranny

Thanks again Justin, that's precisely the way I intend to do it, hopefully over the next two days!
