Questions/Comments/Suggestions about the new forum software

      Hello everyone,

Sorry for the downtime, but as you read (https://www.swedespeed.com/news/publi...icle_1805.html), we didn't have a choice.

Please post in here regarding any issues you are having with the software, questions you may have, or any comments for us. We tried to get the look and feel to be as close to the old software as possible, but I'm sure we may have missed a few things.

Thanks for bearing with us during this time.

      - Anthony

Considering the circumstances (of which I new nothing until I tried to log on) it looks like you guys are doing a heck of a job. I've got a (little) I.T. services company so I think Ihave at least some idea of the caffine and whatever it takes. Hang in there.

Thank you for keeping the clean look , that's what really attracted me to SS in the first place.

Kinda digging the Friends option, but I do miss some of the emotioncons though...

Also, you can link your facebook profiles to Swedespeed now. Go to "Settings" then "Connections" and you can get connected with facebook.

Please give it a try and see how it works. If it works well, I'll make it much more obvious on how to link in with facebook.

      Thanks,

      - Anthony

OK, found one: the link to the classifieds is busted (unless they haven't been restored yet)

I am referring to the 'classifieds' link on this page https://swedespeed.com/marketplace/marketplace.html

Thumbs up Help searching archived info

New site looks nice! I was using the search feature to find about aftermarket brake pads for the R series but no luck finding the information that I read awhile (about 9 months ago) back in the R forum. I suspect it was archived with the new updated website. Being able to search and find posts in the archive would be appreciated. Thanks.

Old threads that are linked using zeroforum in the address won't work. We are working on converting exisitng ZF links to vB.

+1. I missed Swedespeed when the forum was offline during the transition. I used to deny being a Swedespeed addict but I think I've just proven to myself that I am one...

Alright, I might not have been reading closely, but can we upload pictures through the "Attachment" function in this board? Or do we still have to use other hosting sites (eg. photobucket)?

EDIT: Testing to see if I can edit this post after 4 days...

      Search archive threads?

I can't find the option to search the archive threads anymore.
And the bookmarked links are broken. Are they still there or have they been purged?

POST NEW THREAD has to be on the TOP, not the bottom of the page
      (or both)

I Can't Log In To The Discussion Forums...

I could log in to post this message, but I can't log in to the discussion board.
I tried to log in a number of times, also thinking that the new board was case-sensitive, but still no go. I'll try to get to the discussion board from here... may the stored cookie from my logging in to post this message will allow me. We'll see. There is also no field that says "Can't Log In?"
which would be helpful in this situation.

Also... I don't know if the following is just a bug because of the new software, but the followed links don't change color after viewing a thread.

If you are talking about links to threads in the old zeroforum run site, yes, the posts are still there. However, if you examine the link or bookmark you will see that it refers to a zeroforum software address. These are not compatible with the new forum software (vbulletin). Here is what you can do.

Example of an old link or bookmark:The thread index number is 133953. Insert it into the new format URL as follows. This URL will take you to the thread on the new site. Notice the new format is similar to the old, zerothread?id= has just been replaced with showthread.php?.

If you go to the new page, you will see the hyperlinked thread title at the beginning following the word Thread: . You can then rebookmark the page or copy the new link by (right for Windoz) clicking on it.

Doing the last step will ensure that you get the whole new smart URL which makes it easy see what page you are linking to. In this case:

      Code:
      https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?133953-Guide-for-swapping-or-upgrading-MELBUS-head-units-radios-in-your-2000-2009-P2-Volvo
      Additions in RED.

What a quick change around you guys had to do, nice job indeed!!

      Here's something I noticed;
It would be nice to have at the bottom of a thread the "Return to ______ forum" so I wouldn't have to click the "Top" button or use the scroll wheel to get back to the top of thread to click back to the parent forum.

      Anthony,

How do I keep from getting logged off due to inactivity?

Also, it would be nice if the software could be set up to include the OP author in the title of a reply so that we can track who is replying to whom.

The search function appears not to be searching thru any of the content that came over from the old system; maybe the search index needs to be rebuilt?

Not posting pictures propely AT ALL.
Look at two pictures in the 98-00 forum I just posted, they're AWFUL
These are 800x600 pictures from Photobucket, always worked properly and not they look awful and I have no idea how to make them right
Again, not good for business if I have sale car as an advertiser I need some help with this!
I'll link them in a minute

Please no, the sigs are long enough as it is; nothing worse than having to scroll down through miles of sigs, your sig is 4X as many lines as your post.

+100000, I absolutely HATE sigs with pics and avatars that are gifs, a huge THUMBS DOWN to sites that allow that junk. Please keep SS clean, like it was and is today.

I'd have to agree with MrTippy and 850arrr. Makes everything way too distraction. I also say, stay with the current avatar configuration while adding new ones from time to time.

Is there anyway we can update our Profile Pictures though?
