Squaky/Noisy Center Console - How to Fix?

      Hello All,

My center console is driving me nuts. I rest my elbow on it as I drive and it squaks constantly. It also doesn't seem very solid. It's not extremely loose but I can push it a little from side to side if I try. I don't see any screws to tighten or anywhere to tighten it down. How do I stop this thing from driving me crazy?

      My car is an '06 2.5T S60.

      Thanks,
      Casey

Find where it's squeaking and put some oil on it.

A little shot of silicone lube on the latch mechanism, and wipe the residue across the contact surfaces - works for a couple of weeks at a time.

A little strip (or strips) of thin rubber applique in strategic locations might be a better long term solution.

more than likely the little rubber bump stops have been pushed through and are no longer working. That's what happened to mine. I just bought little round rubber discs and put them in their place. This firmed up the console lid and stopped the squeaking/creaking.

My whole center console squeaks louder than the stereo, too. Very cheap-sounding. Will see if the silicone and some rubber shims help.
