Drove it because it's Friday. Man this thing loves cooler weather.
Driving the v70XC is nice, but such a stark difference in ride and power. Makes me appreciate my choice all the more.
I've been driving it so infrequently, that I needed to put dryer sheets on the motor and tuck some in here and there.
Mice had moved in temporarily. A wash tomorrow and stick the dryer sheets back in there and hopefully they will be persuaded to stay away...

New fuel pump today. Started right up and seems to be running fine.

I'll give it a bit of flogging tomorrow!

Oil change on the SR switched to 5W-30 for the “winter”. Still waiting for the axle shops evaluation of the passenger CV axle for rebuild on the VR. Hoping for the best since FCPEURO is sold out and the local Volvo shop said its 4 weeks from Sweden to get a new one. Not to mention the $713 price tag for new.

Washed it well. I think I’ll either take it to Baltimore today or drive it to work tomorrow.

Seafoamed the oil and changed it. Noticed a fluid coming out of the exhaust which smelled vaguely of coolant (which is a little low). What’s the method for testing if this is a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder or something else?

Most auto parts store sell a small kit which will detect exhaust fumes in your coolant. That's your best bet. It's called a combustion leak tester. $25-$50 depending on the brand, etc...

Hit a number that has rather a lot of 2s.

Then stuffed four transmisions in the trunk.

Then, put some Blizzaks on my siznack, since my old tires were scary-bad.

225/45-18 WS80s for just over $600 shipped on closeout from Tire Rack.

I don't know if I should be impressed with four transmissions in the trunk or disturbed.

      I'm conflicted............

Well Tony, if four in your boot fits your lifestyle, then that’s cool. To each, his/her own. 🤣

What is more disturbing is that I already had three manual transmissions on the shelf ready to go, a Ford T5 and adaptor in parts, an adaptor to bolt in a Jerico if I could find one that wasn't $$$bank, and two complete automatic swaps for when my left knee decides to fully **** the bed. (I can do light clutches. I can't drive a new WRX, for example, but Miatas are fine. Going to need a power booster for my Quantum's clutch)

And the trans IN the car has bad bearings, and the 2nd gear synchro collar is worn to nubs so it pops out all the time, but i just don't feel like changing it yet. That takes a good solid 45-50 minutes that I could be spending not rolling around under a car...

Finally broke down and bought Dedicated winter rubber bands. Money was tight but went with federal Himalaya ws2. Was less than 600$ out the door in a 235/40-18. Had some decent reviews and some bad ones but took my chances.

Even mediocre winter tires are better than good all season tires.

Very true. That was my state of mind going in. A good all season was still 20$ more a tire.

Last night... replaced all 5 plugs, all 5 coil packs, upper engine mount with IPD poly mount(old rubber one was completely shot). Came to find out previous owner had a PCV issue and it had flooded #3 and #2 with a bit of oil, so spent 5 mins cleaning up all the oil before pulling the plugs. Today I will be flushing coolant with distilled water and then filling with Pentosin pentofrost NF. And then will be changing oil/filter. Pretty close to stage 0, time to start planning performance upgrades!

Sadly, my cup holder failed. Plastic fatigued and just fell off at the hinge when I opened it.

You don't need it anymore. Just swap with the new gauge pod into it will be nice.
