How did you get homelink to work! I've been trying off and on for 6 months!

      Sorry for the delayed response!

I had to really play around with mine, but here's what finally worked:

      1) Hold 1 and 3 on the visor for ~20 seconds until it does a rapid blink to erase any old codes
      2) Hold the button on your remote opener while holding the desired homelink button until it rapid blinks. The remote should be right next to your visor for this step.
      3) Now the fun part - Jump up and press the "Learn" button on the actual opener, then jump back in the car and hold your homelink button that you just set until you hear the opener click/flash and you should get a rapid flash.

This! The procedure is different for some different brands of openers, too - homelink had a bunch of how-to videos for diff openers/cars

I knew it! This car is a biatch to program. My C70 had issues too but I was able to do it. Not sure how. Just kept pressing buttons on the visor!

Well when you have a MY05 and a 2013 garage door it kinda says ďbuy a newer carĒ... they donít like old technology and not foreign car friendly. They love American! My GF car synced with no issues. Just sayiní.

Meh, homelink is homelink tho, some of the transmitters and receivers are a little bit different and have some quirks but everything should be able to work unless you have some kind of crazy gate transmitter. If you're SUPER stuck the homelink people are awesome on the phone

I was never using it. I literally put in one tank of fuel this year. I used it less than 3k miles last year. I've got three kids and they weren't allowed in the car. I was so nervous that something might happen to it, If I had to go somewhere, I almost always chose to take Snowball (745). It just wasn't practical to keep it and let it rot away in the garage.

This is EXACTLY why I sold my AMG wagon and got the beater Sonic instead. But now I want another one.

Totally understand, I think buying mine as a slightly less well-preserved family wagon definitely served to eliminate some of that anxiety, kids have already mucked up the backseat a little and it's got dings and scratches. Nobody's allowed to eat in it, but it's not perfect enough that I have a fit if someone has wet shoes on the floor mats.

I'm not sure "this year" is not a useful metric lol. I'll be doing good to get 1k miles out of my T-5R this year. But then, even in normal times, that car sits most of the year. Is what it is. On the other hand, all of the cars in my fleet fill specific roles and are used accordingly, so it's not like they are just sitting aimlessly, either.

If I ever had kids and was worried that they were going to mess up the back seats, I'd just swap in base back seats for the duration of that concern.

Drive what you love and enjoy it. Life is too short. Getting dirty means others are also enjoying it and provides an opportunity for quality time cleaning it.

In the end, If you donít drive it itís because you donít have passion for it.

I had a feral kinder at the time and after that ONE time he put his muddy shoes on the perforated leather AMG seat I was like: NOPE, we're done w/ this ISHT and parked the wagon at the office. 6 months later I sold it.

See above lol. I'd literally have to plan my entire day around what car to take to work, vs. what car to take for drop-off vs what car to take to nasty soccer practice in damp grass vs. which car to take to the beach. It was just too much. W/ the R, I don't care inside nor out. 2 weeks ago I found an ant army picking out snack spills from MARCH and I didn't GAF, didn't even clean it up. Shut the tailgate, walked away, checked a week later, all the snacks were gone HAHAHAHAHA. covid & nature wins.

      That's like inverse entropy LOL

Usually I have a plan for the entire trip when I'm driving my T-5R but, with my S60, I do my best to control what I can and the rest is what it is.

100%. If I had to get down to one car, I'd keep my T-5R and do what I could to keep it nice. Everyone has done a damn good job for the last 300k miles so no reason that couldn't continue. I get plenty of dirt in the floor mats when I take it camping but who cares. I have a vacuum. Or sometimes my friends even shake the dirt out of their floor mats when I drop them off at the end of the trip LOL.

Snapped off my coolant drain nipple... more than one way to get the coolant out at least! Pulled the hose off the oil cooler lower down.

I actually find it easier to drain it from the hose attached to the cooler, but without breaking the cooler of course. Lucky you found that now instead of on the side of the road miles from home.

Got the turbo and exhaust manifold off last night. Turns out I have TWO broken studs, and not just one - just that the one on cylinder 1 hadn't fallen out yet, I could practically turn it out by hand. The outside ones are broken off, green arrows. Makes sense why cylinder 1 and 5 gaskets were blown out.

Of course, because nothing is easy, the coolant inlet pipe is too close and blocks straight on access to drill it out. So now I'm struggling to get that bad boy off. Stuck in the water pump housing so far...

Be careful you don't pinch the water pump o ring on reassembly; might want to have a few on hand in case you mess it up.

Thanks Jared, I'll get a few on hand. Will it be obvious if I've damaged it before I put everything back together?

      Got the pipe out, BTW.

Took the VR on a 120 mile round trip to pick up some things. Came up fast on a C30 with an elevate sticker in the window. I gave him the thumbs up and he gave me a look of, you just drive a wagon. Some Volvo drivers are clueless. Whatever.

Makes me so mad when I give another Volvo driver the nod and they don't get it/care. There's a guy with an honest to frick C30 Polestar at my work and he likes it, but like, just treats it like a normal car that he likes. Gives me weird looks when I ogle it.

Sidenote....v annoying that I'm 1/345 and still not the rarest Volvo at work

Taking care of your stuff like you want it to last forever is weird in America. You're supposed to be careless and buy a new one when it's worn out/abused to death/broken. #capitalism
