Oh yeah, definitely. At near full compression in the rear with the *15mm spacers ( previously said 20) clearance to the actually metal fender is very minimal (I would estimate 2-3mm). Would likely need to roll fenders.

I promise you, there’s no rubbing lol. I just looked today and they are fine. The tire had a lot to do with it. Some tires can be “chunky” vs another in the same exact sizes.

So glad you mentioned this. Some sidewalls are a little rounded, others are more squared off. Some have lip protecter chonk, some don’t. Even the raised lettering of company logos and any other decorations on the sides of the tires can use up valuable room when clearance is super tight. That’s why it’s vital to include what tire brand and model, specifically, you’re talking about when discussing whether a tire size rubs or doesn’t rub with a given wheel size and suspension setup. Even an older versus newer revision of the “same” tire might fit differently.

Just installed a set of Yokohama Avid Ascend GTs (235/45R17) on my stock Sadia wheels. I was debating about what to get and decided that since I don't drive like I did when I was younger, Grand Touring tires make more sense than High Performance tires. Also, since I have a set of 18" Midir wheels, if I really get the itch to put some more aggressive tires on, I'll put High Performance Summer rubber on those wheels and keep the Yokohama's as my cool/cold weather tire. I decided against the Vredestein Quatrac because we really don't get enough snow around here and I can remote in and work from home if the roads are bad enough that I can't get to work. No point in paying for the 3 peak mountain snowflake rating if I'll never use it.

Another factor is that the tires were way cheaper on Walmart.com than Tire Rack, so I saved a bunch of money and got a very highly rated touring tire for the price of a budget high-performance tire. The price today isn't as low as what I paid, but it's still quite a bit cheaper than Tire Rack if anyone else is interested. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Yokohama-...Tire/913042146 $103.26 vs. $134.99

Looking beyond tire sizes, just looking at your tires they don't appear to stick out beyond the wheel at all. Probably a function of the smaller sidewall.

I'm running a 235/40/19 so I guess I was just assuming 0.5" of extra width would cause more rub... But really, that's extra contact patch rather than overall tire width.

EDIT: so just out of curiosity I looked up the offset of the polestar winter wheel. It's a +53mm offset. So, with my 15mm spacer I'm at +38mm. That would explain it.

It has a lot to do with the combination of width of the wheel and the width of the tire. The width I’m using on the wheels are 8.5” wide so it actually stretches the sidewall back on the spec of tire I’m using. That allows just enough space to clear the rear wheel liners.

Yes, but not Cosmic white. The last time the US saw Cosmic was with the C30.

Ah. I did not realize there were other whites available on this car. I do like the white on the US Polestar cars.

Incidentally, this afternoon I saw a wrecked white Polestar V60 turn up on eBay, being parted out by a salvage yard in MA. I wonder if it's that same car I've seen in Boston.

Oh yeah, those jokers have been trying to part that car out for almost a year. They are asking stupid prices for the parts, so it continues to sit. I inquired about some pieces when it first came up on FB an they wanted nearly new retail prices for them.

I cringe every time I find a V60/S60 being parted out by a salvage yard. Prices are definitely very high.

Yes, I have noticed that car for a while on Ebay. I sent them a note once about the catback and the only reply I got was: "The catback is not for sale". I'm still wondering if they sold it already or just don't want to sell it.

Yeah, they didn't want to truly part it out. I wanted the lower rear diffuser and they were only interested in selling the entire bumper.

After having owned the car for more than 4 years, I just now found out that locking the glove-box puts the car into valet mode and also keeps the trunk from opening.....I guess I should have read the owner's manual more closely, lol

Only if you turn the glovebox lock the full 180 degrees.

If you turn the lock 90 degrees it locks only the glovebox and not the trunk.

Wow, tucking in the rear but looks very nice! Are you rubbing in back at all at that height? I have considered getting KW's too for ride height and ride quality improvements over the stock R-Design suspension.

My KWs definitely do *not* ride better than stock, lol. They certainly handle better and have higher quality damping but the overall effect is stiffer by quite a bit.

I have my front and rear fenders rolled. The coilovers are actually in the highest height setting. There are 20 clicks for each of the coilovers. I had them at 10 clicks and the ride was smoother than with my current 19” OZ wheels with the stock dynamic suspension. But it’s not as smooth as when it was stock with stock 18” wheels, of course. I changed all 4 shocks to 6 clicks down from 20 (if that makes sense) at lunch break and it’s a little rougher but the firmness is worth it so you can almost go normal speed over speed bumps without hitting the liner.

      Better than stock?!

My KWs definitely do *not* ride better than stock, lol. They certainly handle better and have higher quality damping but the overall effect is stiffer by quite a bit.
      .

They don’t feel stiff and when I had the dynamic suspension I could feel all the ripples on the San Diego highways. But when you have the coilover set to neutral then it absorbs the bumps better than the dynamic suspension did. I’m sure if I had the touring suspension that would have been the best ride quality.

I see that you played around with some damper settings. I have yet to deviate from the recommended damper settings which do seem to be a pretty decent ride/ handling compromise and are comfortable enough that I want to let well enough alone. A little stiff but not uncomfortable by any means. You’re at the highest ride height which also makes a big difference in ride quality. When I first had my KWs installed I was pretty much slammed (by Volvo standards anyway, lol), riding about 3” lower than stock T6 height. It looked cool but big bumps were truly jarring and would try to launch me out of my seat, I scraped with any kind of meaningful entryway approach angle or road crowning, and cornering was worse than stock as I would rub if I took corners at more than 7/10ths.

I eventually had my indie shop raise my suspension about an inch to get back a modicum of functionality, what with needing to haul me and my wife and infant around like a normal human f’n being. I believe the height settings ended up being as high as they could go in the rear, and raised a similar amount in the front (with more adjustment available) to keep it level with the rear. It still looks lowered but the slight increase in ride height made a night and day difference in ride quality and the ability to use my car with fewer compromises to basic functionality.

TL;DR these KW V3s can be brutal if you want to get low, but ride quality improves tremendously when you run them at a more conservative ride height. I’m not sure if their effective spring rate increases when they are low, or if the harsh ride was more a factor of inadequate suspension travel at that height, but they do ride much more comfortably and handle far better when they have some additional travel.
