Looks like Volvo will have two new dash cluster styles now. This looks to be a mechanical version of the V40's LCD cluster. Let's just hope it's back lit.

Those side (LED?) daytime running lights (foglights?) are interesting.....

      Foglights

Guess Volvo heard all the moaning and groaning about taking the fog lights off. Now if they would just stop and listen to all of us begging for the V40 to be imported......

Saw the pics this morning, FUGLY!!

Why would they mess with such a successful design Ive no idea; they had done the same with the c70 & c30... Volvo has lost its direction in design language after Peter Horbury left, and with Steve Mattin also gone god help them

I agree! Chinese are great at imitating existing designs. I see a lot of Honda in the front end. I do not see any Volvo style. I also dislike the cyclops gauge cluster.

The pictures are taken with a wide angle lens, so the proportions are not perceived correctly and it makes the car look ugly. Hopefully it looks better in person. But anyway, it's nothing like the gorgeous V40XC

Somethings not right with the leading edge of the hood, they've graphed on that concepts hood and it doesn't work.

Lets hope the Pics make it injustice.
I also thought the gear leveler leather cover should be color coordinated with the interior instead of dark grey.
The instrument panel does not feel premium with all the different browns, greys and metallics.

I disagree. The last iterations of, both, C30 and C70, were very successful. I know this is anecdotal but I have gotten way more random compliments on the looks of the latest version C30 and C70 when I drove them for a while vs their original versions...huge difference.

It looks nice - but i specifically bought the XC60 for the seperated DRL and headlight look. So i'm happy with buying a MY13 if MY14 will look like this.

If that speedometer/dashboard is fully digital I will cry (i wish it was like that in the current XC60)

~ the vertical leds look like a ford edge thing. front & rear bumper updates with lower clad painting.

i do like the painted bottom in the pic... the current xc60 black bottom makes things look base... hence one of the reasons i like the the r-design.

I agree with the black bottom

I am getting my T6 tomorrow and the one thing I really wanted from the R design was the uniform coloring along the bottom.

Ditto - this feature alone is worth the RD premium...now unnecessary apparently. And, it appears to be GLOSS which is a nice improvement over the flat on the current RD.

I like the new front bumper and grilles - just compared pics back and forth and think it is a nice upgrade. The headlight, however, look awkward and blocky in the new design. The rear bumper is nice with the step in body color. the (probably fake) exhaust tips are fine (consistent with current trend anyway) and provide for a cleaner, but perhaps less aggressive look . Will be interesting to see the R-Design version.

The pre-2011 model year front ends were just plain uninspiring and boring.

At the time of their introduction, they were nice. When the MY11s came out, they became what you described; they added a nice edge to two very good looking cars!

Hard to believe... it might be a Chinese design feature.
Don't forget XC60 are made in the Volvo plant in Gent - Belgium... Volvo Cars Belgium has its own photo lists at Flickr:

The grill reminds me of the grill on the 2013 Volkswagen CC. Also, I do not enjoy these new headlights.

What do the Chinese have to do with the design and/or this discussion?

The red R-design looks amazing! It's also about time that they added paddle shifters. Overall, I have to say that I like the 2014.

I love that rich java color on the XC, I also fancy that darker wood trim on the floating console, but those rims gotta go...fugly! I have Mantus rims on mine, which are nothing spectacular, but look 10X better than that junk! The passion red RD looks plain badass, would've liked to see a view from the rear, especially to see what the exhaust setup looks like. A Heico setup would be bitchin', but I wouldn't count on it! The XC60 IMO is a moving piece of art, and it seems as if the Chinese are slowly going to destroy it with their influence.

Thanks for the pic, at least they didn't ruin the back end with those stupid looking "Acura" exhaust tips. I love that they added in (it looks like) the Polestar tag next to the T6. The Chinese are definitely on a mission to ruin these nice cars, just look at the "Chinese version" of the S80, blah!

You'll hardly see it. Once the pipe is a bit corroded it will be near invisible. It's the only way to get a perfect alignment for the design exhaust tip.

It's very obvious when crusing behind a MY14 with those exhaust pipes. It's even more noticable on S/V60.
