Why did you put it in the middle again? They said to bring it forward. It will fit the profile of the XC90 hood so much better. The colors are close too. You probably wouldn't need to paint it.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy ****, what a ride!"
Presently taking a ride thru the Black Forest.
Oh my, that's fugly... and I've switched from Volvo to this now (so I'm not totally opposed to scoops):
Anyway, if you're serious, it ought to be wider and lower in order for it to look good - ignoring functionality completely, of course.

believe it or not this was a factory ... or rather dealer option. I remember noticing it when I looked at a C30 a few years back... one of the options was a HOOD SCOOP! a fake one too!

OK, just so we're clear, there are vents and there are scoops.
What the OP posted is a scoop. It will take the care in. What is shown on that Vette is a vent. The air is exhausted through the vent, taken in from the lower grills. This is much better for cooling, as it doesn't ruin the aerodynamics of the car and it provides better flow for the air. The air will go out the vent and meet the air going over the car in a much more amicable way that if it's taken into the scoop and bounces around under the hood until it finally finds a path out. There's no channel running out, so a scoop on our cars will just result in the air pressure under the hood increasing a bit and eventually pushing out the seems, or possibly even the front, where that super heated air will now be sucked right back into your engine.
A SCOOP is only ever good if the air is being injected into something, like an air intake or intercooler setup. For cooling, use the vents already on the car and maybe provide a path for it to get out. The best way to air cool is to allow the air in and out. It's not the air going in that cools the engine/turbo, it's the hot air leaving and being replaced with the new cold air.
