      S40 pre-facelift to facelift transformation

      Hi everybody,

      I've bought a Volvo S40 2.4 from late 2005. I'm very happy with this car, its only that I really like the new grill of the S40 from 2012. I've searched around the web if it was possible to change the front bumper with one from 2008+. I still didnt found an answer of wich i'm sure how difficault it would be.
      I already know that I also need to buy the headlights from an 2008+ model.
      What I don't know is if I buy these, is it just as easy as swapping the old ones with the newer ones and then put the new front bumper on, or do i need to make some adjustments?

      I hope somebody knows, and maby somebody already tried and can tell me his experience.

      if you have halogen headlights, the swap is pretty easy.

      you'll need:

      - headlights
      - front bumper cover
      - grill
      - that plastic part behind the grill (surrounding the horns) that channels air into the front area

      I did this swap without the last part, works fine and I didn't notice anything being different.
      xenon headlights require rewiring. and I'm not 100percent sure about the foglights.

      other than that, you should be good to go. the only difference is that there are 4 screws on the bottom of the bumper instead of 3. (or the other way round, can't remember).

      Yes I have the halogen headlights. Good or maby bad thing is that i dont have foglights on it. I dont know if the wires are mounted anyways, because then i can also put foglights in it, otherwise i will try to rewire the daylights with led "foglights".

      Question about the screws, there are a different number of screws, but is it still on the same position, but just missing one hole?

      nope, different positions. I just redrilled the holes.

      I also don't have foglights, but the car is pre-wired for almost everything.

      I've got a facelift grill (plastidipped black) if you're interested.
      just need to look for it, somewhere in the garage.

      Unless you are like me and my bumper, passenger headlight and grill were damaged in wreck. Then it seems like a good idea.
