Here is a beautiful picture of the new S80L back seat. Look at the back headrests! Very V40 inspired.

Looks fantastic! Poor man's Rolls? Reminds me back in the day when there was a 960 Royal/Executive.

      Thanks for posting the photo.

I really like the seat backs with the flip down tray and lower storage "pocket". I hope our next US S80 gets some of these features.

On the roof there are two silver "things", one just rear of the grab handle and the other between the sunroof and what I assume is a rear vanity mirror. Anyone know definitively know what they are?

One is a mirror. The other might be a microphone.

Honestly I don't even know why there's a seatbelt there. Cars like this or the "L" versions of the 7-Series/LS/A8/S-Class ect. all have a massive piece of (usually wood) furniture that ensures it's a 4 seat car only in exchange for tons of rear-seat controls and probably a fold-out table.

This thing reminds of the Lincoln Town Cars I take from JFK into the city. I mean, I like the S80 and all, but this gussied up limo thing is not speaking to me...

      Actually he's right.
It's still an 8 year old, uninspiring design with an upgraded interior (and STILL has those horrible tennie, wennie dash buttons that I need my reading glasses to decipher)!

(...and definitely is spelled THIS way: Take the word finite, add a de in the front and an ly in the back end of that word). That's the easiest way to remember

Thx for the typing tip. That one always annoys me to type... French speaking guy here...

Still. The S80 is very much the opposite of a BMW design wise. More in line with what Audi design for all is A4/A6/A8 cars without the fancy headlight work. Very classic shape. The look will always look alright. When the car gets 10-20-30 years old. It will still look ok.

Its a very simple and well executed shape that ages gracefully. It is simply not meant to be a designer car. Full size executive... Now that definitely spells exciting people no? haha. Think bankers and administrators in suits with brown socks.
