It's both an ice box and a hot box. Picked it up used for $55 and it's awesome. I've had it run off my battery for 14h and was still able to start. Cooler only runs for a minute every 5-15mins (depending on ambient conditions), maintains 4*C. I've not used it as a hot box yet . Great for day trips or for long road trips... and not just for beer.

Long Point Provincial Park this weekend. 220mi round trip that the XC handled and towed well... except for the 16.4mpg . We've done this same trip for that past three years as a season opener as it's close and the campground is quiet. The park is part of a nature reserve that's an important stopping point for migrating which the park is full of this time of year. The beach is beautiful nice and clean, you'd almost forget that you were on Lake Erie . No adventures for the XC in the sand dunes, just the sandy campsites that an be quite soft. AWD and the V8 XC90 DEM that I installed a year ago is still performing well, no issues getting the trailer backed in and pulled out of the perfect spot. Open Season 2019! Looking forward to more camping and backcountry adventures this year!

      Cheers!

Thinking about installing a set of 25mm bolt on spacers for the rear axle. 25mm should be enough space to bring out the rear axle nicely while still being able to use the stock bolts with 19 mm heads. Anyone have experiences with bolt on spacers?

I’ve got 25mm bolt through spacers, so I just got really long lug bolts to go all the way into the hub right now. But they’re also hub centric adapters for my wheels

I want this! For beer, of course! Though in TTR trips I just drop the cans into a nearest swamp: water temp is less than +10C at any time

You know what else works well when you're in the backcountry, evaporative cooling. Put your beer can in a sock and dunk it in water. Repeat until satisfied. Get a few socks going and you've got yourself a nice session

Thanks Man! Would love to go on more deeper and challenging adventures, but camping with a 6mo, 4yo, and 6yo is challenging enough right now.

Amazing! I may be hauling the trailer out west again this year, but likely keeping it north of the 49th. May take a trip south from our destination to the Cascades in Washington, but our plans are all over the place right now.

Left rear door - is it not properly closed or does it need an alignment?

Likely the belt buckle is closed it in... My oldest son sits in a booster and will leave the belt hanging. Rear belts are weak and won't return on their own.

Hell, myself at any of those ages would have loved to go deep into the adirondacks for a camping trip. One of my earliest camping memories is up there, playing pokemon silver and looking up to see a bird swat a bat out of midair and peck it to death on the pavement. That bird was a death metal genius.

Yakima Loadwarrior: 2x Extension, 2x the fun.

First off, thanks to vtl for proving that the double extension works well. I was going to hold off on this one, but that's no fun now is it

What's been done to a accommodate and provide support for the rack is the installation of two additional load bars so that there is one load bar per section of rack. I feel like one additional load bar in the middle would be enough support, but I bought a set of used bars so there were two to use up. The rack is 'flush' mounted, the rack sits below the load bars and is supported using non-standard hardware from underneath. Purchased a set of 1" pipe-to-pipe locks from eBay for the job. I was under the assumption that they were stainless when I ordered them, but they were zinc plated and would need to be painted for use in the rust belt. Also installed between the contact point between the load bars and rack are felt pads for protection.

The rack feels rock solid, no movement what so ever, feels like it's a permanent fixture to the vehicle. The pipe locks work amazingly well and are easy to install, if you plan to use them be careful not to overtorque the bolts as they will compress the rack bars. I'm quite happy with the way it looks and it should function much better with the canoe and pack as the longer span will make the canoe more stable.

      Cheers.

      Sweet!

I also did a custom wind fairing that protrudes to the sides and down to roof, to fight a wind noise. Will make a picture tomorrow.

I got a wind fairing with the other set of cross bars... I test fitting just for laughs but it looks awful.

If you only put one extension on the basket, do you think you could get away with just two cross bars? I am thinking of adding an extension to mine, but not sure if I want to add an other cross bar.
