Replaced the fronts tonight, here's the comparison

      12.7mm vs 10.1mm

Only replaced the fronts tonight. Upon removal of the old endlinks I noticed the swaybar bushings had a bit of slop, they were tight when I lubed them a week ago. I was able to tighten them up by inserting a shim between the subframe and the bushing and now they grasp the bar firmly. No more clunks, she's all quiet. I'll be ordering a set of replacement bushing, front and rear, to have on hand, but for now I feel this is ok.

Spent the rest of the time working on the rear wheel wells to provide clearance for my winter/trail tires. I've placed an order for Kumho Road Venture AT51 in 235/65R17 (stock XC90 size) which should be arriving tomorrow. I've been using a used set of XC90 tires to check clearance and I feel like I will have enough. More information here:

Thanks! I looked them up on Rock Auto and some of the pics were different than the one's you got. The zerks were also not installed on the part in the pics. After searching the part numbers elsewhere they all had those same pics. Weird. I'll probably get these when my IPDs eventually crap out.

You picked a good one. Easily one of the best things going in P2 wagon world.

      Progress! 😀

Reused the IPD TCV as a failsafe.

If active, it will bypass the primary TCV straight to wastegate which will only allow the turbo to build base pressure of 4.5psi.

I messed up with tap and sensor locations on the reservoir and now it's swiss cheese. Instead of patching it I have ordered a new one which will arrive next week. I'll be able to complete the install then.

I hope the methanol doesn't penetrate the firewall... It's just not smart. As for the end links-- A= (pi*d^4)/4 so increasing d to 12.7mm vs 10.1mm is a 40% increase in area pretty decent.

Are you saying that I'm not smart 😉

All methanol plumbing is confined to the engine bay, the hose on the controller is for boost signal. I'm only running 50/50 or less so it won't be a fire hazard.

      Hahaha, Yes.

I honestly don't expect much of a difference between the R box and the AEM Cone filter, but the larger R MAF may increase air flow at the top end. I do like how the R box looks stock compared to the cone filter which screams "modified".

👍 To Hilton Tuning for provided a new tune for the R MAF.

After a quick flash she's running beautifully.

With bigger teeth or just xc90 wheels? They look great on there. Any rings needed? The green looks so silver like!

Stock XC90 size, 235/65R17 AT winter rated tires. The bigger tires lift the XC by 1".

      More information here:
      https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...t-Tire-Options

Yes, hub rings are required as the XC90 wheels are 67.1mm compared to 65.1mm

Crystal Green only looks green in winter scenes or when parked next to a true silver car. I like how subtle it is.

Love seeing the progress over time. I have a quick question for you. I am in the process of upgrading my V70, and I would like to upgrade to 12" front rotors. I have searched without much success, so I was hoping you could fill me in on exactly what is needed. I think it's just rotors and caliper mounts, right? Do you happen to know the part number of the brackets? Thanks!

Check Rockauto, they tend to carry the caliper carriers for cheap. Let me know if you need more information.

Awesome, thanks a bunch. One more question for you. Was the stage 3 tune from Hilton your choice, or did Hilton require you to purchase a 3 based on your mods? Seems to me that your car is very similar to a stock T5 now, tune shouldn't really be that far off a T5 tune. Just curious, as I am considering going with Hilton, and I am wondering what my initial investment is going to be. I probably just need to reach out to Hilton myself, but I haven't gotten there yet. Thanks again.

"Stage 3" was required due to the larger than stock upgraded 16T turbo with a heavier wastegate.

      Best to contact Hilton directly.

I had myself a productive day.

That's right kids. XC90 front and rear brakes.

Rotors are Wagner Premium E-Coated, Pads are Pagid.

The calipers were a generous donation from a friend and fellow SS member , they were well used and were in need of a spa treatment. Once fully disassembled and the pistons ejected they went for a nice vinegar/brine soak to melt the rust away.

      ... much better.

Now some people at this point would decide on some radical colour to paint their fresh caliper for that ultimate effect behind the wheel. Me being me, I went with the best... Tremclad High Heat Enamel in Flat Black

Also rebuilt the calipers with new boots, seals, pin guides, and hoses.

Install was straight forward like any brake job with the exception of the larger caliper mounting bolts for the fronts, and the dust shield for the rears. To mount the front calipers to the spindle the bolt holes had to be enlarged enough for the M14 bolt. I used a 13.5mm or 17/32" drill bit then reamed out the hole to 14mm finish with an adjustable reamer.

      Bleed it.

      Slap the wheels on.

...and take it for a spin.

Initial thoughts, they are not as grabby as the other brakes but there is a noticeable difference in brake force. I can also feel the additional weight of the calipers/rotors in the steering wheel.

      Cheers
