      thefisch33's progression thread ODIN II

from Nov '13 at the dealership. Was a lease, 57k on the odo. Took forever to find a m66 AWD.

first up was the badgeless grill from dubstop

      next up pedals from autovation

6k leds from vled everywhere except turn signals and brake lights

had to bring back the moose and yellow calipers

      injen intake and yellow covers

and most recently the custom cat back muffler delete

      short term goals:
shift knob, weighted from TWM or the Heico one...tough choice
      strut tower brace from Viva
brakes are still original, need to get some slotted rotors and new pads
dual port CBV, and HD TCV

      long term goals:
coilovers. want to invest in the KW's but just saw the ISC ones...
tune, still haven't fully decided the vendor..
      BBK, 18's Pegs,
      v50 bumper swap (eventually)
and the rest of the engine goodies

      that ought to do it.

Looks good! I'm still trying to decided on my new engine bay color theme. Definitely blue... But there are so many different blues to choose from.

I'm trying to find a yellow cone filter or something equivalent to match. Yellow vacuum lines too I just need to get the correct sizes

Following up on progress. The TWM heavy weight knob is in. And I got slotted rotors and 17" Pegs. Yes, as seen in this pic they were drilled and slotted but they ended up warping, so the manufacturer replaced them an my request with slotted.

It's now time for a new windshield, the top seal is leaking. A trailer hitch(I'm guessing) smashed my dubstop grill today. And the past year in Wyoming has not been nice to the paint. Also caught a shopping cart to the rear left quarter panel. That will require body work and paint.

No mods for a while, have to replace the front CV axels...$1,800 job at least at the dealer. Lifetime warranty parts and labor should it ever fail again though. That means I can lower it too and not worry about the added stress

This is where I'm at. Would be a simple design if the air didn't have to go up and over this piece of frame. It's thin gauge but is shaped to be rigid. I'm no structural engineer so I don't know how crucial it actually is. I could easily cut this square out with a wheel saw

I'm working on something VERY similar for my Injen intake. I've been planning on cutting that part out, but I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Aerodynamically it makes sense to remove it. I understand the reason it's curled over at the top...to make it rigid. I may consider cutting a rectangle out if the glass surface some air can pass thru and the rest can flow over the top.

So I realize that true cold air is a negligible difference. What this should do is greatly increase airflow and lower under the hood temps. I ordered a water-(resistant) pre filter from Outerwears. It was the only company I found that makes one in yellow. I pulled the passenger side axel. Not as easy as MNIWT videos make it look. I had to drop the LCA and loosen the oil lines or whatever lines those are that block removing the lca bolt. Took the axel to CVJ and they said it was too messed up to repair. I guess what they do is cut if off and weld a new joint on. So now I ordered one from FCP Euro that has their lifetime warranty. Jacked up the car as far as I could on one side and didn't lose a drop of transmission fluid.

Installed the do88 intercooler and got the cv axel installed. Front bumper is back on. I haven't driven the car in over a month. Smooth like glass on the highway now, no vibration. Also got a new windshield. So clear, you don't even notice it's there!

Replacing the R design trim with what I think is called Bright Aluminum. I still need to find rear door handles that match. I have to take the center console back out to access the screws for the waterfall. If anyone knows where I can find rear door handles in this color let me know. It's definitely different than brushed aluminum.

Got the Bright Silver trim installed. Also mounted my iphone7+. I purposely bought a case with a belt holster for this purpose. I used a folding drywall anchor to secure it to the ac vent. I also just finished removing the rear seat, since the only passenger is my dog. Now there's the problem of the center seat bracket which is not removable and I think it's definitely dangerous for the dog. I have a solution in mind. Going out to the store now.

I really love the way that looks! Are you going to make a funnel between the opening and the cutout in your bumper to the filter?

Also, any tips on how you cut out that section of bumper? I got out the cutting wheel and then got worried about where all the sparks would be flying...

You can put a small mesh to keep most of the little rocks/bugs/water droplets away from your filter, while retaining the airflow.

quick sketch in paint, cause photoshop is still not installed on my new workstation

Also take a look at aircon ducting etc, you can find some square/rectangular tubing that'll fit the hole.

I'm not sure that it actually needs ducting. As for the rain I was driving in extreme downpour with no grill at all and it was fine. I didn't use a cutting wheel because I was also worried about sparks. Hand saw was the way to go. Cut like butter, 5 minutes total. My only concern was once I folded the metal down, I didn't want the edges cutting the coolant lines so I put weather stripping on those surfaces.

Lucky for me, I don't have coolant lines there.

      Thanks! Hand saw it is.

If water really is of concern, Injen has a hydro shield cover for the filter. My filter has gotten misted with the cover on and it remains dry underneath.

I have a hydro shield on my cone filter. It does bead off rain drops, but i tested it in the sink and it fails miserably. Where do your coolant lines go?

Because my reservoir is on the driver's side, the lines don't have to cross over the top of the radiator.

I went out to high plains raceway over the weekend. I rode shotgun a few laps in a c7 corvette to get a feel for the track. An Audi TT lost a wheel on the main straight. The damage was moderate. The driver suspects the plastic hub ring melted, however the TT is bolt centric, so the bolts were taking the load and ended up shearing off, destroying the wheel in the process. Needless to say, I just ordered metal hub centric rings. http://us.hubcentric-rings.com
