Also found out who's been dropping bombs on my car... caught it in the act...

I'm parked under the only tree on the street that's hasn't leafed out yet, must like the vantage point.

Pretty quick and easy install. Latch came from an 03 and works on 05. Mostly did it for the manual lock.

Still have it, kind of need the space in the garage so can put the deck back on the riding mower.

Would the shifter and cables, work for the P80 folks? Know the axles will not

The sport shifter I found for my car had some light scratches on it. So, sanded it smooth and put three coats of satin clear leather sealer on it. Replaced the annoyingly fragile (and expensive) boot clip.

Pulled off the trim pieces next to the windshield and replaced the rotted weatherstrip with some “D” shaped weatherstripping.

      ergh I hate splicing wires.

      Good info though, thanks.

I had a wicked misfire on #1 last summer and when I pulled the cover I saw that the insulation was completely gone on that coil wire. I fixed it the best I could with 400 degree liquid electrical tape and knock on wood, so far it's been good. But I know the rest of the harness will continue to deteriorate.

I'd be worried about them sliding around on the roof. Would be tough to secure without stops and pads to keep them in place.

Roof rails do fine with ~400 lbs of load. Via 4 steel square Volvo bars. About 300 lbs here, with empty gas cans 2x 5 gals + 1x 2 gals that will be filled later. I (200 lbs) occasionally climb onto that for a good camera shot.

I can attest, I think the heaviest thing I've hauled in my last S60 was a 300# treadmill

But I've hauled lumber, and yeah, it's way harder to keep in place!

Yeah, the roof bars are tough ass but each of these weighed a good 100 probably, and two were a little wet. I didn't want them sliding around and didn't have blocks to secure better even though short drive.
Sliding them up through the split rear seat and folding the front seat up was easier.

      Stock load bars. LOL
I've seen that image before but never noticed the second car - sedan that clearly has some buckling going on with rear door at roof.

Got two bombs dropped on me this morning:

Air is filled with pollen and apparently covered the car with it overnight too - and I just washed it two days ago.

Welcome me back! It appears I joined years ago.

Nothing major to report except that we're on our 3rd V70 now. It's a 2007 base with a steel gas tank.
Aside from the H7 headlights being changed to H11's and 15" Lysythias becoming 16" Echos, it's the same car.
To my eye the exhaust manifold may be of different design.

The 2002 served us for 9 years and during the final 2 years+ I searched for a replacement.
It's amazing how many cars for sale have clear and obvious MAJOR problems like severe wobbling or a buzzing/grinding corner (wheel).
And the willingness of dealers to say, "Gee, I didn't notice that", is beyond angering.

I found a low mileage example in Bethesda, MD and drove her home 26 Dec. 2016. A/O today it has 104,600 miles.

Yesterday I changed the LF headlight for the 3rd time.

I'd like to post my maintenance/repair records for both the 2002 and 2007 if that's OK with youz guys.

Sounds like it's time for a progression thread!

      Replaced the gear shift "claw."

Apparently this is fairly common, no resistance between automatic 'drive' mode, and the manual mode, gear selector (shifter) just freely floats between the two. Happened after I was driving in manual mode, the following day the shifter went loose, without resistance. The yellow claw portion broke off at the base allowing the shifter to float freely, more or less. Fairly easy fix, but would not have figured out how to remove the inner console cover without the video. Changed shift boot while at it, all is well.
