Because the Titan is being used to store all my other Volvo parts and I didn't feel like emptying it out!

Super easy job and the results are very satisfying.

The two edits I would add to his instructions are:

The small screw that holds the panel is a T15 and the three screws that hold the seat controls are either a T25 or T30 (not a T20, as he said). I used a T25, but it seemed like it may have been slightly smaller than the correct size.

I used a set of angled needlenose pliers to wedge under the clip that attaches the wires to the panel. A small screwdriver was my next option, but the needlenose let me slide the clip off without bending the grabby bits inside.

If you work quickly, you could probably be done in 10 minutes.

Edit: I just updated his post to say T25 since that's what worked for me. It still might be a T30. lol

Iíll have to stop by soon. Mechanic said the long term fuel trim CEL was all the aftermarket parts but I donít believe it. Got a new MAF coming in from fcp, but a vida scan would be cool!

This is more of a what I plan to do soon...

The car has been dealer maintained (read: dino oil). I'm going to switch to synthetic (obviously). I'm considering running a round of Seafoam through the engine oil shortly before changing (a few hundred miles?). Any thoughts on this? Anyone used Seafoam for this? Any benefits/risks? PCV is newly replaced, so I'd like to keep it clean with the synthetic going forward. Curious what I can do to start from a clean slate in the rest of the engine, oil-wise.

Fuel trims get messed up primarily because of either a bad sensor or air leaks.

Seafoam or BF109 will do nothing globally. Two Seafoam + one BF109 runs over 5 years resulted in the leaking rear main seal.

If you want pristine clean engine - mix 15w40 diesel oil with DMSO, run it for a bit, flush few times. You will need a replacement oil pump. See page 182 for the DMSO pics. I did it for oil pan out of engine, but running oil+DMSO will clean it even more effectively (modulo oil pump).

But there's no reason of doing so: my engine did 79k miles on dealer's dino and another 140k miles on synthetic - never had any issue with oil pressure. Just don't run the oil for longer than 5k miles, and replace oil filter at like 2.5k miles for the first few changes to synthetic.

It first came on about 4 hrs of driving after putting the Simota intake on. Tried stock airbox and it came back

That's probably the right approach. Maybe I'll just do a series of lower mileage changes.

Usually is an air leak between the MAF and the cylinder head. Doesn't take much.

But, I should back up and ask if the long term fuel trim is positive or negative? Different causes for each.

Yeah, I still need to give it one of those.

I have pushed it through a couple gears, but I suspect most of its use will be very tame, so I'll have to remember to offset that with some hot runs from time to time.

If they had made a NA XC it would be more than enough for most XC drivers....the cars are endemic for having a faulty and clogged pcv by nature. You donít see this on T5s and Rs that actually get driven!

All my whiteblocks and redblocks see redline after theyíre warm during the general course of daily use. Oil consumption is about a cup every 5k and the PCVs have stayed clear for 45-250k post refresh.

The Italian tune up is not a joke for these motors.

Yeah, I do it as a matter of course in my VR. Even gave Snowball one this evening. The XC will need special attention to make sure it gets the proper treatment from time to time.

Got to really drive the wagon for the first time after getting the downpipe on today, and it sounds great, but from 35-40 there is now a slight vibration under load, and from 60 onwards under load it feels like the car is going to launch into hyperdrive or something. It had a small shake over 60 before but now its pretty horrendous and well defined. Should I be looking at replacing axles? My Upper engine mount is a little shot, but not enough for it to feel like that...

I wouldn't jump right to the axles. I wonder if the vibrations are acoustic related or the exhaust is touching something? Especially, since you just changed the exhaust manifold and downpipe. Are the engine mounts still original?

Nah, had the 3 hard ones replaced less than 10k ago. The vibration went right up to 90 but only on the pedal. Coasting is fine, but I was wondering if itís acoustic too. It was completely fine with just the manifold, the vibration was still very slight.
Was thinking of having precision auto look at it... but they get a bit pricey.
Like I said it did vibrate before but nothing like now. I ordered the upper and lower ones from fcp as itís been like 25k since the last ones. Hoping the easy fix does it haha

Need to figure out if it is road speed related or RPM related.

Doesnít do it under heavy rpm before about 35-40 and then 60+
      Otherwise itís fine no shake
Starts over 60 at about 3k rpm onwards. Coasting is smooth

      60 MPH cruise okay?

Start at 55 and accelerate as fast as you can while staying in 5th gear with the torque converter locked up. Keep track of the RPMs.

Now, try to repeat the RPM range in 4th gear, and in 3rd gear.

Some shops have vibration analyzers which can help narrow things down.

Yea cruises fine: 3rd gear didnít seem to do it up to 70 or so. 4th started at about 75 or 3500-4K rpm, and 5th did it from about 60 mph onwards.

Hmmm, not too conclusive other than looks to be probably load dependent.

Took a week, frustration, patience and some Swedespeed help, but all the coolant hoses, thermostat and front/rear motor mounts are all replaced, along with charge air pipe hoses (hot side), which are now silicon.
For any reader who will be or plans to install bigger swaybars, get the rear motor mount done while the subframe is dropped. The bigger bar makes access to the lower bolt way more work than anyone should have to go through.

I replaced the blower motor and resistor in the NA today, both were presumed to be the originals. I supposed at 274k, I got my money's worth. Since the cabin filter was next door, I replaced that as well, gave the car an oil change, and swapped in the winter rolling stock.
