      Wheels and tires

Here is my polestar. I was actually wondering if anyone here has ordered winter wheels and tires that aren't the polestar winter wheels. I don't want to spend a fortune but I definitely need to find something other than the summer tires and the stock wheels.

Put in my customized WeatherTech winter mats with custom "polestar*" badge in place of the WeatherTech badge. Contact me if anyone wants to know where to buy these plastic polestar* replacement
      badges for their WeatherTech mats.

To order mat emblems: Send a request to: [email protected] Tell them you want: "polestar* rectangular emblem 30.5mm x 117.5mm, Black with PMS 300 Text" and quantity: 2 each.
And request a price. Allow for at least 2-3 week delivery from Australia. Cost is approximately: US$27 for 2 emblems. Installation tip: adhesive is not that good, so I used a good silicone adhesive to
adhere it to the mat, especially since there will be a lot of water etc.

"Anthracite Grey" Thanks for the compliment. I posted an earlier thread on my decision process whether to go with black or grey, my family urged the grey. I'm pleased with the result.

Just finished shoveling my driveway. I don't know if I can throw it any higher and we're due for another 1-2 feet. But the Pilot Alpins are really doing their job!

Pile up more on the upper left corner--- that tree is really distracting

the Sottozero III have performed well too.

I would love to drive my P* to Tahoe but CHP may require everyone to chain up, even those with snow tires and AWD.
AFAIK, snow socks are not an option in California as CHP will not accept them as chains.

So has anyone installed actual chains their P*?
Is there enough clearance with the 19" P* rims?
I got the socks as a back-up to the snow tires if stopped by CHP requiring 'chains' to proceed figuring if conditions ever did reach R3 I'd pull over to wait it out anyway...and at the time my research indicated they were acceptable for traction control but as I've revisited the research it seems it may still be questionable. We're heading up to Tahoe this weekend so hopefully it won't present a problem...that said, the weather is looking like it might not continue to snow through the weekend.

Considering how little clearance there is on my winter wheels, I'd think chains wouldn't fit, even on the 19"s...I don't think my offset is THAT far from the P* 19"s but I could be wrong. If I get stopped this weekend I'll be sure to report whether the socks 1) qualify with CHP as 'chains' and 2) if they even work!

Polestar recommends the Michelin easy grip chains (size W12), see your P's Manual

I would really hesitate putting any type "chain" on any wheel as there is so little clearance and I would bet at some point they would start to loosen and then start slapping around. It does not take much for some loose
chains to do some real damage. The sock option would be the only "safe" alternative. Any really good modern snow tire will go thru almost any conditions thrown at you and if it got so bad the snow tires would not do
the job the road will probably be shut down at that point anyway. I've run high end snow tires for well over 10 years and been many really sketchy conditions and they've always pulled me thru while many SUV's are
      in the ditches.
