Can't find a chapter near you?

If you can't find a chapter of VCOA near you, don't despair... there is hope.

We can help you form a VCOA chapter in your area. VCOA chapters are easy to form and can be a lot of fun. We can provide you with a list of members in your area and all the material required to get started.

You can contact our national chapter coordinator at [email protected], or write or call me [email protected] 415-455-9192.

Yes, I was wondering why we don't have a Connecticut chapter yet, everytime I look around myself on the roads it seems to me Fairfield County is full of Volvos.

So with so many owners here, I find it hard to believe there would be no interest in a chapter. I guess I'll send Joyce an e-mail.

I am curious what it involves, while I would be happy to kick it off, that would of course depend on the required effort and responsibilities.

Re: Can't find a chapter near you? (M-R)

It's actually pretty easy to get started. First contact Joyce at VCOA like you said. She'll send you the charter information. Basically what you need is 12 VCOA members to sign a charter, pick a president and secretary and you're good to go. You can either use current VCOA members (Joyce can provide you a list of CT residents who are VCOA members) or you can just have them join at the time they sign the charter and collect their $30 fee and Joyce will assign them a number once you've sent in the charter with 12 signatures.

That's probably the hardest part was actually physically obtaining the signatures. I went to a few people's homes, also organized a get together at a centrally located restaurant where some folks came, and I also got several of the salespeople at my local Volvo dealership to join....it took about 1 month all said and done. Now we're an official Hoosier chapter here in Indiana. You should do the same in CT! Good luck.

Alright, I just sent my e-mail to Joyce and look forward to learning more about the process.

Soledoc, thanks for your post and telling me a little about the process. Now I know who to ask for their recent chapter-founding experiences.

Anybody know whether the Blue Ridge chapter is still active in North Carolina? I tried contacting the president several months ago, but never heard back.

If it's still around, is there any chance we can kickstart it once again? I know there are several 1800s in the Raleigh area, but so far I can't seem to find 'em.

      Thanks,

      Mike

There is an Ohio Chapter, or was at one time... Why isn't it listed on the page with all the others? Is it completely dead?

      Hi gang,

Just wanted to let those of you in the Midwest/Kansas City area that we are 're-startubg' a chapter here! It's going to be called the "Heart of American VCOA Chapter' and will be based, for the moment, at the Superior Volvo KC North Store. John James, who's the parts manager has been very helpful in starting this chapter, and we've sent in the paperwork to become 'official.'
We are looking for members who want to have fun!! If you'd like more information, my e-mail is:[email protected] and John's # is (816) 801-5500. We've got about 15 start up members, and we're looking for more!
Thanks for your time, and let's roll!!

The guy who was doing the Ohio Chapter moved out of state and could not find anyone to take over. We would very much like to see it re-started.

      Hi guys,

I hope you've got the paperwork from our (re)new chapter called "Heart of America VCOA Chapter." We're based here in Kansas City (MO), and Superior Volvo North is where we've started planning events, etc. John James has been in touch with you, I believe, and has sent the starting paperwork to get things processed.
I've been a long time member, and am quite encouraged about a chapter here in K.C. The one in the St. Louis area is fine also, but we've always needed one on this side of the state!
We're looking forward to getting started here with some fun stuff, and I greatly appreciate your help with the paperwork. We're on the road!!

      Many thanks

      Volvoguy,

There IS a chapter in Indiana. It's the Hoosier chapter that I formed this summer. We don't have much representation from southern Indiana but we'd love to have your support. We have had 2 functions already this year. Our next is currently being planned for a dinner meeting in November. Check the hoosier chapter of the VCOA on this site.

Not yet, but it is real simple to get a chapter rolling.

      Here are the current chapters...

This list does not include the chapters under construction and you can read all about that here on Swedespeed.

You are in Volvoland - just takes time to find everybody.

Here is a better email for Tricia.

Out of curiosity at this point, as I'm still a good year out from my next car purchase (which may be a Volvo), where would the nearest Chapter be from Eau Claire, Wisconsin? In case you're unfamiliar with this city, it's about 100 miles due east of Minneapolis.

      William;

Membership in the VCOA is wide open even to VW owners - no Volvo required!

Also, if you want to witness first-hand what all this lunacy is about stop in at the Midsommer Bash in Kansas City June 24-25, 2006.

If you would email to me your snailmail address I'll zip off a copy of the May-June 2006 ROLLING magazine - the bi-monthly VCOA rag.
