      Swedish Metal in The Snow

At the suggestion of other members I've started a thread to archive photographs of our wagons in their natural element. Thread title graciously borrowed/Jacked from ProlixArgon.

Kicking it off with some reposts from this year's paltry east coast winter offering...

Thanks mate! We have nearly 4 inches in VA right now. I installed snow tires this morning and went exploring!

I would say a mod should make this a global thread, not just for us P2 people.

      I agree, ProlixArgon.

It makes me want an XC70 and I never wanted one before.

      These are great pictures.

I bet we might see more after this weekend, too.

It's currently snowing pretty hard here in Central VA. I have about 5 inches as of right now, with an expected 2+ feet by the time all everything's over.

It's too cold and I'm too lazy to go out and snap a pic of sleeping beauty right now, so here's a couple from last season:

And finally, one taken last season when Prolix and I got bored and started meddling with wheels off his XJ

      Snow dust shield.

And a harbinger for trouble/fun that we will see later.

The snow in central VA is between 4 & 6 inches, but the wind is blowing and it's predicted of gusts up to 20 miles an hour. There is a foot and a half on this windshield "drift."

Loving it. I have the TF-80SC trans, so it takes the increased torque without issue. Feels extremelys strong, on acceleration it just pulls and pulls. I miss my 2.5T something fierce, the D5 doesn't have the same joy when downshifting, and it doesn't sound as GETOUTTHEWAYFUTTBUCKER, but it goes like hell. On stock ECU for now.

My first snow run this year.

Unfortunately, it's been a bit weak for winter this year...

But I may get to make up for it by possibly driving up in this area in the next few weeks.

JUST got our 02 XC back from the dealer this morning. Maryland DC & VA are getting pounded right now. I'm itching to get out tomorrow and take pics to share. Having a back that got thrown out today before the first snowflake fell has me bummed out but the evening sleep will hopefully fix that. I will need to shovel quite a bit to get the wagon out but the s60 (despite awd) is staying put. Too deep...

I live above one of the largest salt veins in the world. We use salt like it's going out of style.

      No worries here.

Volvos have a huge stigma of not rusting forever. (Sure they do like any car, but they have a great ability to withstand some rust if taken care of during the winter.)

It also helps that they they have a warranty against rust/corrosion.

Thanks. If you saw my 2005 van, you'd understand my neurosis about rust. True, van is a chrysler. I've never had a vehicle rust, so when it started, I didn't realize I should have fixed it. The problem was it was ALL over the entire base of the vehicle. Look at some older chrysler town and countries or dodge caravans and you'll see what i mean.

I do see lots of volvos here and they look great. As it turns out the van is dying quicker than I thought it would and we'll probably have to get the volvo filthy

If I do get it out I'll get some snaps and post here (if we still have snow).

Colorado is weird, everyone thinks it's like the midwest where it's snowy all winter, but it's usually just dry and sunny. Then we get huge dumps all at once. This was a February storm a couple years ago:

I like to back the car out and push all the snow off in the culdesac where the plow piles it up, so that it's not in my driveway. I left this "spoiler" of snow on for laughs, hard to see with the background snow.

The plowed areas were fully melted by noon when this pic was taken, and most of the snow was gone by the next day or two.

Really?! ****. I guess us "inlanders" in the Hudson Valley are missing out completely. Narry a snowflake icon on my weather app for the next week+. Wife is thrilled that we are missing #snowpocalypse2016 just due to the general inconvenience it presents. While I agree to some extent, I was planning some day excursions with the boyos up into the Catskill Mountains to search out new forest roads and am kinda bummed :-(
