      Surprisingly for an Iowa winter it hasn't snowed much at all this year. Here's the only pic I have so far since I just bought the car. (Taken after a long drift session)

      My apologies if this is an SS member's car and I have offended??? I am actually (admittedly) pretty anal/OCD about detailing my cars and as such, love sparkly clean wheels and shiny black tires and also admit that Volvo wheels are somewhat difficult to keep clean. Not sure what brake pads the PO put on the rear of the XC, but my gawd they blacken the wheels quickly. That said, maintenance and detailing aside, the tires alone on the V70 pictured not only put the owner in danger, but everyone else on the road. Apologies for preaching......

      All Volvo pads create a lot of dust... I've had decent luck with Bosch Quietcasts...

      Previously mentioned s70

      It is dirty because of the snow, but it's the pretty, and I don't like S70s.

      I was 100% joking. I wish I could keep my car clean...your post may or may not have inspired me to wash it today tho!

      The older turbo wagons LOOK cooler stock imo. The P2 XC has serious soccer mom vibes in its basic form. BUT, I think it's a rad canvas to build on and come winter, the Haldex AWD + turbo is toooooo much fun. Get one!

      +1 what Satchel said. The 940 is quite cool, and I actually like them a lot, but the XC has infinitely more options available for customization without going to "bespoke" custom solutions. Note: when I say bespoke, I mean, custom application created specifically for your application.

      P2 is more functional in stock form, while the 900s are cheaper and easier to maintain.

      900s
      * No immobilizer or complex engine and transmission management systems
      * Rear wheel drive
      * Simple and inexpensive that anyone can work on without a lot of trouble
      * Customization is limited only by your abilities and creativity

      P2
      * Lots of customization options that can be cobbled together without going bespoke - seats, wheels, cabin modification etc.
      * More efficient, more functional, more comfortable, and filled with more modern conveniences.
      * All wheel drive
      * Robust aftermarket support for those inclined to the performance side of things, not to mention the option for an R with is quite quick in stock form.

      All of them have very expensive things to break, but in general the 900s will break more gently. It's hip to be vintage. I think we need to work on a sticky of a compilation of useful things people should know about the P2's and the customization options available. But, now we are off the subject of snow completely....

      Here in VA is 60+ degrees and the pretty white stuff is being replaced by the red clay mud...

      I was actually a bit to optimistic of her off roading abilities and nearly got stuck while fording a creek... I needed Satchel's lift kit!

      To lift my car Id have to get custom springs...to switch from this to an xc or a 940T right now seems a bit silly. All are higher mileage and I had one gent interested from the forums here but I took it on my own to a mechanic just to double check the car that way im not caught by any surprises. Seems I had some so im going to address them and ride this thing out. Lowering springs are the least expensive option once the maintenance is done

      Not the best snow picture but there are two Opeth CDs in the stereo so that must count for something.

      My buddy in Mastic Beach is so bummed that you guys keep getting dumped on while we get a 1/2" each time. If things continue like this we'll be looking at Record lows for the region this winter.

      They're both excited about the snow, but we decided to take the V70 T5 out.

      Once the snow gets deep the XC will get to go out though...
