      So that's the thing. I've never driven a stock manual 850 to know what it's supposed to feel like so it's hard to tell.

      I will say that the more I drive, the better the feeling gets. The engagement isn't as high as other cars like my friend's camaro ss.

      With the lightweight flywheel, I was really worried about hearing noise at a traffic light when you're in neutral as so many have mentioned. But I have 0 noise when I'm stopped, clutch in or out doesn't matter.

      Where I do have noise is actually when I'm driving. I hear a faint buzzing noise and it's only there when I'm pushing the gas pedal. Once I let off, that noise goes away. Very strange. I thought maybe I can pinpoint what it is but I have a lot of things going that can cause it. It wasn't just a manual swap, it was a manual swap that involved an lsd install and a smf and a lightweight one at that.

      However, I did notice some bracket bolts were missing from bottom of car, so I'm thinking maybe the high speed rattle from metal clanking on metal may be causing it, I don't know. I'll address those bolts and if that still doesn't fix, I'll try switching over to the Redline gear oil as you recommend back in this thread.

      What i notice is that SMF cars are easier to rev match and smoother at lower speeds (duh). I think you'd have to drive a dmf car to understand what im talking about.

      ScottishBrick, thank you for the Redline shockproof gear oil recommendation. I drained the Volvo oil I used upon install and filled the Redline stuff through the reverse light switch hole and the car noise is much much better!

      There's still some faint noise but 90% better than before. Expensive oil but that noise was gonna drive me nuts

      Yup that’s why we use it. My m56 is pretty quiet with it.

      I'm replacing the automatic throttle cable with the manual throttle cable. I noticed the automatic has this electrical connection on it at the firewall. Guessing it's for the kickdown switch. Will the car throw a code now that the new throttle cable doesn't have it and there will be nowhere to plug in that connector?

      Just drove it. Holy crap. Not sure if it's because I tightened the slack compared to my old cable OR because the cable now rides on that larger track on throttle pulley but man does it feel different. As soon as I microscopically touch the accelerator pedal, it revs instantly.

      For a Canadian Master Mechanic like you, it will take only 30-45 minutes.

      1) Remove cover.
      2) Undo throttle cable from black pulley on throttle body.
      3) Pop up the retaining bracket holding the cable in place using a screwdriver or something.
      4) Disconnect 2 pin electrical connector on kickdown switch on firewall.
      5) Inside car, pull out white retaining clip thing holding other end of cable into top of accelerator pedal and then remove it from white piece.
      6) Push cable through firewall into engine bay. Might help to have another person, I did it solo.
      7) Remove old auto cable, kickdown switch stuff, and make sure nothing falls inside firewall.
      8) Install new cable. Put metal cable on longer track of black pulley near throttle cable. It will make sense once you see it since there are 2 tracks, a short and long.
      9) Use a 13 mm wrench to twist the black plastic nut to adjust slack in cable or to adjust to help you install.

      It's a super easy project. Also not really an issue if you drop something in the firewall; you have access to both sides

      You can't install the throttle cable wrong since the cable goes through the opposite side of the retainer from where an automatic cable goes

      I started doing the throttle cable replacement today and a few minutes into looking into how to remove the firewall connection, realized that my used manual throttle cable doesn't have the white plastic clips.       I wish I installed this k24 long time ago. It feels so great, pulls so hard compared to the outgoing 16t. Although who knows if it's the k24 or the fact that it's e85 now. Either way, feels great. And the turbo noises now, oh my...I no longer use the stock airbox for fitment reasons and use a K&N cone fitted to the Snaab pipe. Sounds delicious.

      The K24 makes a big difference.

      These cars don't get along real well with K&N though.

      Congratulations on finally finishing and getting to enjoy that car. As for open intakes, I've never had a problem with my cone filter that wasn’t over oiled. I like to have a back up so the oil has some time to evaporate while running the first one. I like the sound, and I think the car runs better with it.

      I've had one for almost 40k with no issues, previous owner must have had it on for tens of thousands of kms because it was quite dirty when I replaced it ~18k ago. So call it at leeeast 60k without issues. I wouldn't worry about it, the sound is 1000000% worth it

      Thanks for the AEM suggestion, I'll look into that down. This K&N was the only option I had at the parts store and I was being impatient lol. But definitely, those turbo sounds are delicious.



      Also, holy crap. I guess too much pressure going on right now. I was having a little fun with a new McLaren GT. Or should I say it was having fun with me lol. And afterwards, I see my coolant light come on so I roll into the gas station right away. I step outside and see this massive trail of coolant that spilled out of my car, it looked like a murder scene. I thought it was a coolant bolt on bottom of turbo or something but turned out to be one of the heater hoses that connects to side of block. Blew a hole straight through that 24 year old hose lollll. Now I need to get a replacement for that.
