Snabb Turbo Intake Pipe and Engine Cover, Volvo S60/V60 Polestar Pre-Order and Group Buy

Increase your engine’s “Intake” of air by upgrading to a full 3” Turbo Intake Pipe designed by Snabb Performance. Introducing the world’s first 3” Turbo Intake pipe for your 3.0L T6 Equipped Volvo. We are offering these new Turbo Intakes and Engine Covers at a discounted price of 10% off retail prices!

When you've spent money for the premium Polestar upgrades and are buying the best performance car that Volvo makes why settle for the restrictive stock intake pipe that comes with it? We've spent months developing and perfecting the 3" turbo intake pipe to perfectly compliment the high output Polestar S60 and V60’s and 3.0L T6 equipped cars.

Our objective is to give you the highest quality kit available that is right at home with Volvo and Polestar. We have sourced the best quality reinforced virgin silicone connectors, precision 3" in house fabricated and TIG welded aluminum pipe. Our 3" pipe includes an integrated (easy to install) bracket, factory fitment bosses, replacement breather hose, TCV relocation bracket and marine grade 316 stainless steel clamps.

      HI David,

Someone else asked this question so I will copy and paste it over for you. Thanks for your interest. We hope to have a test car on the dyno soon, but I would expect to see very little in terms of peak HP or TQ. Intakes, atleast in the Volvo market do not provide a massive bump in HP or TQ as do other makes and models. They are merely prerequisites for further performance modifications. Any larger turbo intake results in increased throttle response and better breathing for the turbo. Bench Numbers are in the works as well.

I love the look of the pipe, I'm not loving the engine cover. Maybe if it had a hole cut-out for the oil filler cap or does it sit too high for that?

"They are merely prerequisites for further performance modifications." Which modifications, specifically, do you speak of that are available for the P3 T6?

Larger Turbo, larger intake filter and possibly a custom ECU tune that takes advantage of the new airflow.

Aint nobody makin' that today for these cars, except for the crazy-$$ gruppe M intake :-) ...so are we saying this is a prerequisite for things which don't exist yet? I'm cool with a promise of things to come, don't get me wrong, just trying to understand why I should buy one today.

Yeah the engine cover sits about 1/4 inch above the filler cap. The cover itself is just as easy to get off and on as the stock cover so there's no accessibility issue. We designed feet that reuse the stock rubber bushings.

We will also have black PC pipe/ black PC cover options I just don't have pictures for that option yet.

Our pipe will flow more than the stock pipe and I remember Connor saying he noticed an immediate difference in how his car pulled after we installed it but we're not going to make unsubstantiated claims. Ultimately the ECU's in these cars are looking to make a specific amount of torque. Intake pipes, intercoolers and other modifications of that sort will make the car run more efficiently and increase response. We'll have more data soon but keep in mind that there are numerous versions of intake pipes for pretty much all turbocharged cars because it is a key choke point in stock systems. On the other intakes we've designed at Snabb we've found anywhere from 5-12 HP gains. I'll have flow bench numbers soon for this one. In the meantime we can substantiate that the piping is larger than stock and doesn't have all the corrugated plastic, wide flattened section, resonator, or the plastic fittings that are very prone to breaking off or cracking.

Thanks for the questions and comments!

      Kristian,

Are you offering to do cutouts in the cover so the Volvo/T6 emblem can be snapped in place to mimic the OEM look?

      Hi Kristian,

      Sounds good!

I guess in absence of hard numbers, I'm looking for a "review" from Connor/Chris/CMOD whoever has one of these? Just seat of the pants feedback would be cool. I'm sure the numbers will be along soon enough (though would be nice to get some of them prior to cutoff of preorders). I want to want one of these...just looking for you guys to sell me on it :-) Not trying to bust anyone's chops!

Actually I will be including a machined Snabb emblem in with the kit for the cover (which aren't finished yet sorry) but we are also recommending as an alternative (and may sell seperately) the T6 emblems which can be easily attached if you trim off the tabs on the back. They can be attached with double sided tape which we will include. I wouldn't want to cut slots in the cover in case someone wanted to change the look.

Not a problem at all I understand. Both Connor and Chris have them installed so perhaps they will chime in on that. We'll keep you posted on other developments. These intakes are going to sound amazing once we get the next T6 project finished... And think about this, if you remember the Polestar concept it had an big intake pipe similar to this. Any high performance turbo car should have upgraded intake options because it's such an important part of the equation and the stock one on this car isn't great, it actually seems like an afterthought on this car. Same with the T5's to be honest. This one was tough to lay out but we got it done and are really happy with it. I think you will be too.

I do notice a more responsive throttle and a livelier mid-range at WOT that the seat of the pants says it pulls better - will collect some data to verify. One of the first things I noticed was that the KPAX exhaust had a slightly deeper tone at idle. Living with the exhaust every day, the tone difference was noticeable to me.

Since I have a stock baseline and KPAX dyno numbers, I am hoping to get on the dyno again in the next two weeks and see if we can document where the improvements are made in the RPM range.

previous best was 270whp. With the snabb.us intake, on my 3rd pull after a cool down period measured 274whp. Air temps were nearly identical at 85F, with slightly less humidity today at 10%

      Dyno: DynoJet 424x (awd)
      Car: 2015.5 V60 R-Design AWD automatic (22k miles)

      KPAX+Snabb Intake
      274whp | 348 lb-ft

      269whp | 347 lb-ft
      267whp | 347 lb-ft

      KPAX-only
      270whp | 356 lb-ft
      269whp | 342 lb-ft
      268whp | 354 lb-ft

      Stock Baseline
      269whp | 333 lb-ft
      268whp | 335 lb-ft

The data are interesting and the more we collect the better we can make some assumptions and conclusions. Definitely a torque gain over the baseline numbers with just the KPAX exhaust. We did measure a HP gain with the intake after letting it cool for close to 5mins. Heat soak is definitely a challenge with the stock intercooler. On the open road, the throttle is definitely more responsive.

If any Polestar owners in the DC Metro area would like to meet up, I'd like to do some side by side comparisons. I'd even pay to have your Polestar measured on the dyno in Sterling, VA.

Very interesting results, thank you for sharing.

The exhaust does make a significant jump in torque, does the car have the downpipe fitted from ferrita also or just the exhaust?

No downpipe yet, just the KPAX exhaust.

I may have missed it, but is there a good pic of the black wrinkle powder coat?
      Thanks

One other question. Will this intake system impact the Volvo warranty?

Something worth mentioning is Chris' car isn't a P* car, yet he saw gains with the lower output T6 3.0T. I'd imagine gains would be even more significant with the slightly bigger turbo of the P* cars trying to move more air. If the stock intake is a choke point on a T6, I'd imagine it would be even more so on a P* car. I'd also expect the intake to make better gains still with a bigger FMIC and aftermarket downpipe. I'd love to see someone establish another baseline with all the other breather mods (free flowing turboback and DO88 FMIC etc.) with the stock intake and then see if the Snaab one makes even bigger gains when it's added after the heatsoak issue and other choke points are addressed.

Ordered mine yesterday. Looking forward to it. The wrinkle black engine cover is cool. I'll post when I have it on for a week or so.

The Rebel Blue cover looks good. I never considered modding this car, but there are a lot of cool options.

How is Volvo in regards to warranty and "basic" go fast bits like this? I've never moded a car before, but I feel this car needs juuuuuuuust a tiny bit more oomph. Call me crazy. (This question is a broad question, not just on the intake here, I would love to buy the heico ecu plug and play unit as well, but know that will say bye bye to my warranty.)

Will the pipe rate against the metal cover making a bunch of unwanted noises? Coz it looks like it's almost touching and the engine does move...just sayin
