What ramps do you use with your S60 or V60?

I am considering getting a set of ramps to add sway bars to my S60 and XC60, and to add a skid plate. Having the ramps will make it easy to do oil changes later as well. I know that race ramps that have a very gradual slope are fairly expensive. Has anyone found any other ramps that work well with the clearances on an S60 R-Design?

I'm going to be trying the rhino ramps I bought at autozone for my lifted XC70 on the RD for the (hopeful!) KPAX install next week. I'll keep you posted!

+1 to the plastic Rhino ramps. They work great and I use them all the time!

+2 on the Rhino ramps. Shop around. Walmart may have the cheapest price.

So these are just the standard Rhino ramps you see at Walmart, O'Reileys, etc. and not the heavy duty version? Thanks

Mine claimed to be "heavy duty" or "XL" or some crap; 15,000lb capacity or something absurd. Several people on Amazon have broken them putting 5 and 6k lb trucks on them though, so I don't know if I believe the hype.

I love my Race Ramps! Super light and you can slide the ramp portion out of the way.

Chris, is your car lowered? Seeing how close the clearance is on the air dam of your car, even using the Race Ramps, is what has made me wonder if the Rhino Ramps will work with the air dam on a stock S60 R-Design. Bigslick and Config both apparently have T5 S60's, I don't know if the air dam on those has the same clearance as the RD or not. Since the RD air dam is an integral part of the bumper cover, I can't take any chance with it. I may just have to cut out a cardboard template of the minimum angle required, and take it with me to check the Rhino Ramp. I do like the Race Ramps but they are twice as expensive, and I wont be using them that much.

I imagine without the winglets he has installed there is substantially more clearance. You don't have the winglets do you? What I do worry about a bit is scraping the small, plastic air guides underneath the front end. But we'll see next week. Or at least, I will

Race ramps are obviously nicer, but I too didn't feel like spending the money on them.

Edit: won't actually be putting the front on ramps for exhaust as just occurred to me. But I still think the front on a stock height RD may clear conventional Ramps without the splitter

Mine scraped when I come down off the ramp but not going up (2011 S60 T6). But the Rhino
ramps I have are fairly steep. An R-Design might be even closer since it is lower then my
car. First photo on this thread:

I measured tonight and from where the tire meets the pavement to the small plastic air guide tabs that hang down, the ramp can have no more than 5" of rise to 12" of run. I cut a cardboard template and will go by the auto parts store and compare to the Rhino Ramps. The rear of the car is probably no problem as the approach angle is much steeper.

      Rhino Ramps

I went to Auto Zone and compared the cardboard template I made to the Rhino Ramps and it appeared they would fit. But then I price checked at WalMart online and saw I could buy the ramps $10 cheaper so I went there and bought the standard duty ramp. The angle profile of the heavy duty ramp is the apparently the same by the way.

Yesterday I checked the ramp and clearance in the rear was no problem at all. In the front the plastic piece that hangs down underneath the car cleared - barely - by about 1/4" to 1/2". I believe this piece is the same regardless of which trim you have. The air dam on the R-Design car I have cleared as well. So I think you could probably use this ramp on any stock S60, but it would be iffy if you have lowered the car. Heres a pic of the ramp with my car which is stock, but has 235/45-18 Pirelli's on it which have a very slightly taller sidewall.

A caveat on the Rhino Ramp: these should probably only be used on concrete. Since the bottom is not solid, on asphalt especially when hot, the shape of the bottom of the ramp might be embossed on the driveway. If you have asphalt drive you will need to get a ramp with a solid bottom like the Race Ramps.

One interesting thing, and something to bear in mind when shopping on the net directly on sites or Amazon is that if you get to the point where you click on an item to do a price check, but do not buy, and go back to the same location a few days later, there is often a price drop. Apparently the behind the scenes monitoring of your activity (by Google, Amazon, Snowden, Russia, NSA, or Whoever) associates this behavior with price sensitivity, so a few days patience can sometimes net you a better price. After I bought the Rhino Ramp at WalMart, a few days later I ran across the screen on my phone where I did the price check and left it up, and discovered the price was now $10 less than it was initially and less than what I paid at the store.

Yes - I am on KW V3s in that photo , so adding the Polestar winglets and being lowered about an inch (26 inches fender edge to ground) makes the ramp really close

Race Ramps may be pricey but they have some really nice components and a variety of configurations

Chris, from your picture the Race Ramps you have appear to be higher than the Rhino Ramps which are 7" tall. I would liked to have had just a bit more clearance. How tall are the race ramps you have?
