      Oh, the horror! Honestly, this weather makes me crave tea. It's the British in me, I admit.
      The poor pewter will be ok soon. Sorry it's going through this episode...

      I went to Tanzania and came back with a penchant for British tea cookies (digestives) and the ability to tolerate large quantities ginger tea... I will also never look at mashed potatoes the same way again but that's besides the point.

      It's nice having a good tea place be so close. Harney & Sons is pretty great.

      Birthplace of my wife! My inlaws were in the first peace corps group. Lived there for 2+ years and then settled in DC. Digestives and ginger tea are awesome. Marmalade on slightly burnt toast with real whipped butter. Augh. I'm hungry now. We need a thread for food.

      Father in law did. I've never been but am intrigued. I've been to the homeland (Scotland) only once and London and surrounding twice. Need to get out a bit more. Maybe after the kids are in and done with college. By that point, maybe I'll have a 2013 rebel blue v60 at the rate I'm going. Maybe then it's time to visit Burma too. Never been there either.

      I have a Maaco about an hour from me that actually gets good reviews. I think I'm going to go there and see what they can do....if they can do something half way decent for like $200 or something, it will certainly be better than what I have now even if it isn't perfect. If it isn't I'll just have them repainted again when I get the bumpers done after I graduate and am drowning in money (that's how it works, right? ). Going to try to take the stuff over there on Saturday if I can source a hood this week....I'd love to bring it on the trip to Annapolis if this strategy works out and I get the misfire resolved........'cause let's be real here, showing up to a meet in your dad's '99 NA is slightly on the lame side. Maybe we can even drag Bobby out if there's another yellow participating, and I want to see that car.

      You've got a lot of aspirations and I have no doubt you'll make good on those goals. Bobby's DAT BOX is a gorgeous car. I'm going to call the dealer and see if they are open in case we need to use the bathroom. Can someone get the word out more and let me know how many to expect? Contact Bobby too...

      OK - so back in the game a bit with a holiday bonus. Some brake fiddle lately, but indy said rotors and pads were good for a while. I have heard akebono pads and what kind of rotors? He says laser cut are best. OEM? Something else? I can't kill the bonus on mods and stuff, but trying to budget for this before I truly need it.

      Are you paying people to do your brakes? I'd spend that bonus on a torque wrench and then you'll have a lot more money to play with going forward

      Solid plan. And hopefully you'll still have enough left over for a torque wrench. Brakes are one of the easiest things to diy.

      Brembo blanks for the rotors. Much cheaper than OEM and I never had any issues with them or the Akebono pads on my XC over 4 years. Have this setup on my R now as well and I have no stopping issues.

      FCP has them for a decent price plus their warranty...

      Front - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...70r-30645222-2
      Rear - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...mbo-30645223br

      They also have the Akebono pads though Rock Auto also has them if you want them cheaper and don't carry about the warranty. I don't know if Rock Auto does free shipping or not but if they don't they'd be cheaper through Amazon due to free shipping.

      Front = ASP1001
      Rear = EUR592

      You may want to change out the parking break shoes as well while you have everything apart

      Appreciate the feedback. Hope I meet you one day after MONTHS of chatting via a website. I will look to take advantage of the sale here this week.

      Really. I must have akebono already then. Occasional squeak at very low speeds, like parking.

      How much dust do you make. If it's a lot you have stock brembo or jurid or another like textar... the squeak isn't the pads... it's the pins against the pad.

      My stock pads and rotors I replaced had a squeak. I haven't had any issues of squeaking with my Akebonos pads/Brembo rotors. I used the supplied lubricant, which isn't much and have not heard a peep.

      I would have had to clean brake dust from the stock setup everyday to keep them looking nice. The current setup can go weeks and still not need it.

      I used the same as youropeen and this it what I paid for each set off eBay. I went with the centric rotors. The same ones you posted the ad for off craigslist. $50 for the pair is a DEAL.

      Front = ASP1001 = $57.43
      Rear = EUR592 = $58.92

      I've never liked that site for searching. Where are they?
      I'd like one for each of mine...

      Check these out. Apparently the rotors are harmonically balanced, I wonder if anyone on here has tried these before and can attest to any improvents?

      LOL they're selling Brembo rotors and Hawk pads for a biiiigggg markup... that's hilarious. I'd also be a little weary of Hawk, I've heard some bad things. Every rotor you buy will be for the most part balanced as a function of casting quality, and since they have so much mass in such a small disc diameter it really doesn't matter. The moment arm is tiny and a small fluctuation in mass density compared with the rest of the rotor will not have a big effect. Remember a rotating imbalance is the displacement equation with (mass total)/(mass unbalanced*distance from center) tacked on. Mass total is big, mass unbalanced is small, and dist from center is small. http://www.tech.plym.ac.uk/sme/mech226/rotunb2.pdf

      That's over 8 pounds lighter! The rotors look sweet. Maybe one day. Wheel I want is the heico volution v. Wish they were light and available.

      I recommend the OZ Crono ... fully 4 + kilos less than the factory Peg?

      The equation makes sense and is probably why giant tires are so hard to get smooth. I could never get my truck right. Never.

      Yep... Non homogeneous rubber density around the circumference of the tire making it vibrate.
