Tapping in to more power behind the waterfall dash.

      Hey there!

Prior to the BLP-990 addition, I'd like to add some accent lighting and a more stealthy USB Charger Port behind my waterfall.
      Couple of questions exist :

#1 - Where's the best place to tap into power back there. I suppose I'd want it when the car is on (accessory mode) but not live all the time.

#2 - Planning to run a set of LEDs and an additional USB Port for charging. Will this strain a particular fuse?

#3 - I've read the original 12V has some blow-out issues. Can anyone point me to that fuse so I can check it out. My charging on that fellow has been intermittent.

Thanks a bundle. Will post pics as I work on the ol' girl.

      -G

Not 100% sure if the wires for that are behind the waterfall (tho I imagine they should be), but the cigarette lighter plug by the handbrake is only powered when the car is on. That should be a good place to tap off from.

May need to check the fuse on that one.
You know which one it is?

The diagram I have is for a 2010, so likely the same as the 2009-2012. For the cigarette lighter plug, the fuse should be F45, on the CEM. Rated 15A.

45 is indeed the power point for cigar lighter on my '11. I have blown it twice using my air compressor which is also a 15A but it blows the car fuse first for some reason. I bought another compressor and it works more reliably. I found no extra fuse(s) in the panel after the first one and no fuse puller as well. An extra fuse is no real cost at all for Volvo and I have seen extra fuses on other vehicles I have owned. I bought a pack of five (now three) and keep needle nose pliers in the glove compartment as my puller. Just in case.
