      2019 V60 Spotted in Amsterdam

Spy video and some pics of possibly the SPA V60:

Has some sort of rotating 360 camera above, for mapping or autonomy? Glad to see they kept the RWD Proportions of the V90. Also rear reflectors are separated from the taillights.

7mm shorter than today's V60? Then it is pretty small.

So it could be announced after 6 month? And go production at same time (if not next April) US S60 next Fall?

That is definitely an autonomy device on the roof. Appears to be following the same cues from the XC60, V90 and XC90... that'll be nice!

Are they testing autonomous driving with the different kind, spinning radar on top? Does it mean the current radars and sensors on DriveMe XC90 cars are not adequate? Those spinning radars definitely don't look good for production cars.

I thought 60 series were supposed to be bigger sedans/wagons... Disappointing

      XC90 4950 mm, V90 4936 mm, only 14mm shorter.
      XC60 is 4688mm long. So V60 is 60mm shorter.
So V60 should better be a little longer. But it probably won't be longer than XC60 anyway. 60mm shorter is not that much, just make us feel bad.

Don't worry (probably), the info on the vehicle aren't necessarily correct. We still have to wait for the official numbers, since the manufacturers may submit bogus numbers on test vehicles.

It may be at best 7mm shorter than XC60. Still much shorter than XC70, not impressive.

The V60 is supposed to be "much shorter" than an XC70, it's a compact wagon. The V90 was the vehicle that replaced the XC70.

I wouldn't get all caught-up in a few mm's in length, as they could easily shave that and more from the P3's front-end ahead of the wheels. Keep in mind that the P3 needed to fit larger engines than the SPA. The important figure is the wheelbase for interior legroom, which appears longer. The shape of the rear cargo area is also important, and could easily improve on the P3 with a less tapered roof and flanks, and more upright tailgate. Though it is difficult to distinguish on this disguised test car, from what I can tell, the rear appears wider than the P3.

Dumb question but are those Black Panels there to obscure viewing the car or are they sensors?

Yes, hide the contours of the design until the reveal.

V90 is not a XC70 replacement due to the raked rear window and thus much reduced cargo room. And V60 price is much closer to XC70 than V90.

Even though it has reduced cargo room and a higher price, it still replaced the XC70, just like how the S90 replaced the S80 (which is the sedan version of the V70 and XC70). The upcoming 60 series will only replaces the current 60 series.

It is marketed as replacement for XC70 but still need fact check if potential XC70 buyers would go for it or wait for V60.

Proportions look great, another winner from Volvo! Just hope the cargoarea is more commodious than the current car.

Length and width of a vehicle doesn't matter that much. What matters is how all the space is used. A Honda Fit is a tiny car but it is damn spacious inside for a car its size for example. I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen 60 series have a length similar to the current 60 series or the 850/S70, yet be roomier inside due to improved engineering and packaging.

All masked cars (XC90, XC60, S90) was 50-100 mm shorter than production cars. V60 will be 4680-4720mm long vehicle.
For example S90 prototype was 4851 mm long, production S90 is 4963 mm.

Curent V60 is longer than XC60 I, so we can expect that V60 II will be longer than XC60 II.

Are you sure this is not V90 T8? Is it possible that V60 T8 comes earlier than V90 T8 and even S60 and V60 gasoline? Well I must say I am confused.

It is not clear if it is a T8 or not. The opening on the left front fender on camouflage does not mean there is a real charging port behind it.
Actually I never see a report with T8 confirmed on road test, unless there is picture of interior showing T8 gear stick.

Well it looks like a autonomous V90 to me. I didn't expect the V60 would come out so soon.

Maybe you are right. The front grille is same as S/V90. It should be some slightly different variant on S/V60 maybe. But the rear trunk window seems not as raked as V90.
The second row door window is also different.

      Compare with V90 test car:

Definitely a 60. Look at the 60 headlight it eat into the grill like the XC60. Will be interesting to see what they will do for the 40 front design.

Definitely a V60. The biggest giveaway is the door handle placement.

      Waiting or......

We are conflicted - we love the v60 cross country and have a great offer on a fully kitted vehicle. But.... then you have the SAP model coming out perhaps in the next year.... thoughts on buying the last year of a very old platform - or waiting for the new one? How soon before release does Volvo let you place orders? Any thoughts?

Doesn't seem like it's less than a year away.
I'm in a 2017 V60CC right now for one reason - to tide me over until SPA V60 comes out and 2 model years go by, so all the kinks are ironed out.

I'd suggest leasing the current model now, and then getting the SPA, once it's been out on the market for a bit.

I'm driving a 2016 V60 (basically the car you're considering) and it's a great car, but after driving the new the XC60 the V60 seems so much "a very old platform" that I may not wait for the wagon to replace it with an SPA car.

In which way do you mean "a very old platform", Orphanscribe? How is the new XC60 better - is it mainly the user interface or also how it drives?
