once welded to that stripped shaft...it does not mean it cant grenade internally or elsewhere...i would only do this if your shaft is stripped...

oddest design thing on this setup is that the sleeve is made from harder material than the shaft it slides on...how dumb...why??? cause of vulva.

This is amazing. Are you still running this work in your car?

I'd like to resurrect this wonderful thread as I am digging into my own P80 Angel Gear this month. I fear that the spline out of the trans is damaged and that similar work will save me from another trans swap while strengthening this wear item on the P80 AWD.

Any reason why I could not duplicate the work on a P80 car?

The windows must be cut in the sleeve to allow for the welding correct? Did you also drill and tap the hole in the housing?

      Thanks dougy

no need for windows, you can do a simple hole...i just wanted to do it like that, cause that seemed stronger...i never needed to run my welded AG sleeve cause my original never stripped...i just replaced the sleeve every 40k miles...one thing to note no matter what welding type mig, tig, you use it will not be perfectly straight after and that is what i dont like ... you have many that welded theirs and once they put it on it will seep out the fluid at the sleeve because of it ... in europe they are able to fix the splines/ teeth ... he we are just unable to do machinist work like we used to 30-40 years ago and if you find someone that can you can 1st lube up ,2nd bend over their counter and 3rd take that shaft nice and deep....and yes i tapped the plug hole in the housing.

for drain plug i welded the bung...that is nice to have.
