I don't think there are tethers on the 850's but there is a nice little hook built into the bottom of the fuel door where you can hang the cap so you don't leave it on the pump.

When we got my wife's XC60 two years ago I was looking for the hook or the molded plastic cap holder that the other P3 cars have and this car has neither. Reason being that if you let the cap hang by the tether from the fuel door the cap doesn't hit the side of the car. I'm really anal about that stuff.

Nah, BP station. Handles are green.

So it came with this Atacama leather sample

What's that for? I might use part of it for cleaning tests.
Maybe for color matching if you needed to have a piece dyed or tanned the same color. Some folks purchased replacement headrests for RES.

You are a detail guy so I bet you are researching the proper care and feeding of semi-aniline leather like Atacama.

Yea.. also been talking to JRL as well. This leather really doesn't need anything done to it but I would like to lightly clean it and condition it. I'm ready to conduct a test this weekend with some Woolite and warm water. I'll also do a very low level vacuuming and wiping down followed by a foam bath for it.

I use the woolite and warm water on my gobi and it works very well. Frankly, I wouldn't use that on your car at this point - it looks incredibly clean already from the pics posted. You may want to condition it with something though.

For some reason applying conditioner seems wrong without doing some kind of cleaning first.

I only use water on the seats when they are visibly dirty - yours look pretty darn clean. Also, I would be extra careful with a water based cleaner on Atacama. I know you would do this but experiment on a small area.

First outing jitters. I'm close to the island and away from others but the appetizer hasn't come and I've already gone out to check on it!

You have no idea. I came out and the skies west were darkening.

I took home straight for the garage with five minutes to spare. Going to the store now but we are taking the Mazda lol.

Ha! I'd have a panic attack everytime I took it out. I don't think I could ever own a new car...a used car has already been around the block, so to speak. A little dent here, little chip there, whatever. It's to be expected.

What you've got, however, should be in a museum.

I guess at the end of the day, they're just things. But man, that first rock chip, or curb rash, or shopping cart...thats gonna hurt.

Yea, it does belong in a museum and I intend to keep it looking like that. It does have to come out in the world sometimes though. It would be cruel to keep it locked up all the time.

It'll be fine. It's not like you're gonna wander too far away from it. Maybe get a taser just in case there are kids with cotton candy or something.

I'll do first bath on the Magicama after C&O. People will be putting prints on it.

In the meantime Springfield needs a bath badly. Something got on the hood.

My palms are nervously sweaty just seeing it in a parking lot. I maybe drive mine once a week, hardly ever to places that I'll be parked for long periods of time, while also parking as far away from everyone as humanly possible. I've still managed to collect some minor parking lot blemishes and one small ding.

+1. He1 told me my car belongs in a museum, too. Sometimes I load it up with friends and our camping gear and drive it through forests instead.2

Ok, maybe I wouldn't do that with this car, but mine doesn't look any worse for this or any of the other insane adventures I've taken it on this summer. I don't think a cars and coffee is going to do yours any harm.

Not to worry. It survived. It's back safely in the garage. In about two weeks it will be living in a bubble.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to park it in the cave using the bubble. There are some constraints that work against that. So until a system is devised to get around those it will park in the primary garage in the bubble leaving the XCs to the secondary garage. It's a bit more of a logistical problem but only temporary.

This week is just a bit crazy because it's the first week I have it and I love it. Ideally it would be great if I picked up a higher mileage R to play with but that ain't happening because I have too many vehicles. I'd need to come into some serious money to be able to buy some property and build my own house with a 6 car garage.

As it stands now I have space for 3 garaged and climate controlled cars at the house. A parking pad that supports an additional car. An emergency covered spot in case of hail. And a large driveway. Space to park cars is not the issue but rather garage space.

Given the condition of my P2s I can't justify parking them outside. All of them have interiors that are basically brand new so they are parked indoors. I don't mind my Mazda3 parking outside. It's pretty resilient.

Since I have 4 cars that require garage spaces and only 3 spaces... one lives at work. Very nice underground parking garages that are fully secured and keep a fairly constant temperature. That means that on some days I may go to work in a 2006 XC70 and come home in a 2007 XC70.

As for the Magicama.. after Sunday the only parking lot it will park in is the Target (covered) or work. Other than that I don't see this R coming out except for when it's due for a drive and warm up.

That's a really lovely R! I remember test-driving a manual shift one back in 2005, but the company I was working for closed so that was the end of buying that car!
