      06 S40 T5 AWD Minimum Wheel Size

      Hi there,

I've found an awesome set of Volvo rims locally! But, they are 16". Will that work on my S40 T5 AWD 6 Speed? From research, they are sold with 17" & I am worried about clearing the front brakes.

Will they work? They're the stock wheels from an S60 I believe.

      Thanks in advance!

16" P1 wheels will work. Not sure if that's true with S60 wheels as well.

If you have the larger T5 320mm front rotors clearance will be very, very close. Like paper thin close.

320mm brakes will work with 16x6,5 ET52 steelies, I use those during the winter.

Don't know about other wheels tho

Can confirm I had no issues with steel 16' from Focus for few days when I needed to use them. Hovewer make sure to try-fit any different ones as ET may vary.
also - if your car is programmed for 17', your speedo wont show accurate readout, just so you know.
Unless you go for higher profile to compensate.

Just make sure you use the proper dimension for the rim diameter

are the tires you can mount without worrying about the speedometer.

Thank you all for the replies! Wheels are bought, at a wicked price because they turned out to be replicas. Condition isn't perfect, but no curb damage. It's ok, I planned on painting them anyway.

Will sell the tires off & recover the cost of the rims.

My T5 does have the larger brakes, much to my surprise.

Have you test-fitted them? You may want to - the 320MM calipers are quite close to the inside of a 16" rim, and the offset to the spokes is also tight. My stock Clavas (16") have some marks from snow/ice/road grit that inevitably gets crammed in there during winter driving. Not all 16's will work.

Just wanted to report that they appear to have been working well! Not looked at the calipers, but seem to be ok.

Could really use a bit of love, but at $105 CAD if they do a winter they'll be paid for several times over!
